Ok so it took me a quick google to understand all the abbreviations. Sooo from 1st of November can input bigger Tyres in my hilux up to 50mm or not ?

50mm is my understanding of it. So yes, as of 1st November you can. Someone correct me if my interpretation of it all isnt correct

As of today QLDers are allowed to have 50mm increase in diameter not that it helps me though with 75mm

I'm in the same boat. Got a 2" lift all done, but the 225/75R16 MT ATZ look just silly now. I want BFG A/T 265/75R16 on a 16x8 +20.
Is that within the law? (08 SR dual cab.)

07 SR stock tyre 840 dueler is 738 mm in dia from Bridgestone web site.

limit = 738+50 = 788mm = 788/25.4inch = 31 inch

265/75R16's dia roughly = (265x0.75x2+16x25.4)/25.4 = 31.5 inch

Answer is no but only marginal

I am after some help, I want to buy some CSA Monster mags and new tyres. With the changes, what 16"rim offset should I run and what is the largest BFG AT tyre can I run to stay legal. (I have a 2" lift)

Guides also mention ESC, an ARB lift is legal because ARB have tested the ESC operation with their lift. However if you change the tyres and add the lift does ARB still guarantee their lift? Did ARB have standard tyres on when they did their testing?? Their data from testing is not publicly available.

I was wondering if anyone can actually tell me the largest legal size tyre that can be fitted to a SR Hilux in Queensland..........I have read all the Qld gov blah which says I can increase my tyre diameter by 50 mm over the largest OPTIONAL tyre size. ...mentioned previously in this thread largest optional tyre was that of a TRD at 30.5 inches(762.5 mm)....does that mean I can go 32.5 inches (812.5 mm) ........ie 285/70-16 or 265/75-16...

I understand that if the vehicle height is raised over 50 mm by a combination of lift and tyres then the lift needs to be certified a cost of about $350 in Brisvaegas, but probably on par with the defect notice fine....if this is the case I may as well put my billies up another notch and chuck on some extended shackles under the back while I was going......

Any true and accurate advise by people that actually know would be greatly appreciated...

I think you will find that Qld Transport will base the size based on the largest optional tyre size on your tyre placcard.

Up to 50mm lift you can do yourself. 50-75mm you can get certified pretty easily.

75-150mm lift is high lift and requires swerve testing before it can be certified. This implies a session on a race track..... and more cost.

we are talking about total lift from any combination of body lift, suspension lift and tyre lift.

So no mention of an optional tyre size on my tyre placard so not too sure where to get this info.
The tyre size on a SR5 is 265/65-17, can we assume that would be an available option.

I was speaking to Sapid Engineering in Brisbane today, he said because it was a 50 - 60 mm lift with slightly oversize tyres that it was a simple exercise costing $350.....sounds like money for jam really....

You go through a private certifier/engineer. If you don't have one, phone Qld Transport and ask for a list in your area.
