Say on an SR ?

I had my SR running 31s with no flares and it was a pain in the arse, especially with the mud flicking in the window so I bit the bullet and bought Utemart flares, the biggest ones they had. No more mud inside, but now it looks weird with flares and an ARB bar that suits the SR. I need someone to reverse into it so I can get a bar that suits one with flares.

I remember seeing a sr without flares with about 10.5" wide tyres and they stuck out a good 15-20mm from memory. Not worth risking it. Just buy flares it will be cheaper than a fine

I beg to differ.

Me mates had 31's on SR5 wheels on an SR and yes it was past the egde of the guard but only by a bees dick!

15-20mm past the edge of the guard (you double this for total width) means he was not running factory sr5 offset but previous lux +10 offset.

Can someone running the 33x10.5x15 BFG KM2s give us a measurement from top of rim to bottom of flare so I know I'll have enough clearance??? Also did they change their diff ratios???

Cheers Didz

You'll be fine with the KM2s.

I wasn't aware that my shed said anything at all regarding tyres champ.
Anyway, my mistake, I misread the thread heading and thought it read 31/10.5/15..... in which case I can't answer your question. I know that with a 2" lift and SR5 mags 32" is near as far as you can go without having issues on our trucks without having to go crazy on mods.
31s and lockers mate with a 2" lift you'll go anywhere :D

Noidea ran these tyres with a 2" lift and shock packers, gave him about 65mm of lift. Have a read of his build thread. I have about 3" of lift.

How big is your lift you are running.

Any body running 33/10.5/15 ?

Postby dirtyharry on Mon, 02 Jul 2012 10:47 +0000

Need to bump this up fellas. I've been running mtz's 31x10.5x15 in stock sr5 rims with stock suspension. I lost my second tyre in the space of a few months due to sidewall tear. Both have been on the front either side. I'm not goin ape-shit 4x4ing and haven't really been driving on any surfaces to cause the damage. Is it possible that without a lift I'm causing the damage? Has anyone else encountered this?
Sick of paying for Tyres that have only just worn the little stringy tags off.

hey mate, have you got any pics of the tyres? You should find that if they are rubbing on anything on the innerguards etc there should be rubbing marks on these. your situation is a little weird becuase there are a lot of people on here with the sr5 rims, 31s and stock suspension who are not having any issues

There was no obvious marks on the tyre when I pulled it off.

I'm a little concerned about the gap between the sidewall and whatever that bit is called coming down from the UCA...

Bingo thats whats done it for sure. Me thinks that when your airing the tyres down for the beach they fatten out a bit more and then the tear occurs. I'd say the same size tyre on a more positive offest rims will cure the problem. Either a 0 or +10 offset would be ideal ( im running -11 so the tyre is way further away from that pointy bit ) as this moves the rim centre outwards from the car.

Good chance to get to get some sweet alloys if you ask me!
