will they rub??

hi,

I saw a lux the yesterday which had been lifted. it sat on the original alloy rims and a set of 31"X10.5" R15's. does anyone know if these would rub if i put them on before i can scrap together the coin to do the lift. my particular concern is on the front when working the turn circle.

cheers,

Ado,

You are not exactly at the right thread but close enough I guess.

If you are running the original 15" alloy wheels on 31x10.5x15 tyres on stock standard suspension, you will have no issues at all.

Hey Guys

I have just picked up my new 2011 Hilux 4x4 SR5 and am wondering what are the specs of the standard 17" wheels. I have never bought wheels so I'm not sure if the stud arrangement patten is actually called something different in the World of Wheels... so basically I'm wondering what dims wheels in regards to offset, width and size of wheel you can fit on these things? I went to the local wheel shop yesterday and they couldn't tell me much..

Also if changing the Size and type of wheel, does it effect the load ratings you can tow?

Any help would be much appreciated.
Regards
Rhys

Hi Rhys,

The standard wheels are 17 x 7.5 with a P30 offset. Stud pattern is 6 lug or PCD 139.7.

When you say what wheels, are you looking to change the rims and run bigger tyres?

Are you going to lift the Lux?

G'day Kel,

Short answer - couldn't be happier!

After bucket loads of research i went with the Bridgestone Dueller 31x10.5R15LT's and am very happy. Shopped around and bought five at the right price for me. Time will tell as to whether they wear too quickly in the middle but the travel, noise and rub factors aren't a worry for me on the standard suspension. Would like to rotate through the five but haven't found an alloy at a reasonable price in Perth.

Thanks again to Brendon for the feedback.

I am going around in circles a bit trying to choose new tyres for outback trip through NT and WA. I want to use the standard 17" Factory Alloys and have a camper trailer with 17" Cooper ST 245/70's. I have been looking at the Toyo open country M/t's and talking with Toyo Australia directly. Apparently I can't fit the MT's as they only come in a 17" 265/70 which means I am outside the legal tolerance of +\- 20mm diameter by 7mm from the factory size !!! Does anyone know a way around this as I have heard good things about the MT ? Is this a Victorian thing, could I get them fitted in SA or NSW ? And does anyone have any experience or comments re the Toyo Open Country AT which I can get in a 265/65. My head is about to explode from trying to decide the right configuration from the all the options available. help........

other manufactures that make the 245/70R17 are Goodyear with the duratrac and mt/r with kevlar, bfg km2 as well as the all terrain and the maxxis bighorn. hope that helps.

I think the tolerance differs from state to state.

In my books the best tyre available by far....on par with the MTR Kevlar's...thou they are slightly heavier....you'll find they are the heaviest tyre in any size due to their strength and amount of rubber they use in cinstruction.

they arent the dearest for nothing.

these will be my next tyres guaranteed.

The thing you are looking for mate is the following

offset -12 - remember we run a p30

B.S. -4.75

bolt circle PCD- 8-170 - our PCD is 6 x 139.7

wheel size in inches - 22X9.5

When search for rims, look for fj cruiser rims they have the same specs as our trucks

Hi All, I have just bought a new SR (no flares) and I am looking at putting some off road tyres. The size I have decided on is 245/75R16 with sunraysia 7 inch wheels. Any thoughts on my choice?
Also does anybody know what my offset will be on the wheels?

Thanks

Factory off set is p30 mate. running that size tyre a p30 will be fine or a p20

Factory offset for SR steel wheels is in fact p45, the alloy wheels on SR5 are p30.
