"i find your perception of the silverstone surprising as my experience is totally opposite....and mine are wearing great..... i never ever get wheel spin even if its bucketing down....."

mayby the extra 2" of hight and 1" of width makes the differance max, its just my oppinion though max you seem to be wraped with them you may drive differantly, iv only been 4wheeling for a couple of years so i teand to just give it shit to get up everything rather than taking it easy.plus i do alot of road k's so they didnt really suit me im doing 100kms a day just going to work and back about 10 of thats gravel and the rest are bituman.

Brand: Micky Thompson baja MTZ

TYRE SIZE: 305/70R16

TYPE: Mud Terrain

SUSPENSION LIFT: 3in Wizard Performance / Total Kaos

RIM SIZE: 16x8 dick cpek -12 offset

WEAR, PERFORMANCE ON and OFF ROAD: Performance excellent on and off road. Not too much houl, got about 8,000kms on them now with hardly any wear. Great in the mud they throw it everywhere, excellent on rocks and great on the beach. They have to be let down on the sand as they dig down if you dont. very gripy on road.

Fitting: Well theres your problem lol due to the -12 offset and the width of the tyre lots of trimming was needed. The front mudflap was removed and made new ones, the plastic inner guard was heated pushed back and cut and the body mount was cut back at an angle and a new plate welded on.

BRAND. - Cooper

TYRE SIZE - 235/65/17 (29")

TYPE - ATR

SUSPENSION LIFT. - 2", but no mods required to fit these. (was running before suspension lift)

RIM SIZE. - Genuine Prado 17 x 7.5

WEAR, PERFORMANCE ON and OFF ROAD
Well.. These are my daily drive tires, I rotate all 5 (spare is also exact same rim and tire) and ive just clicked over 50k on them. during this time i've staked 1 that had to be replaced. otherwise.. since about 40k ive found them to be very unreliable in the wet. they slip around a lot (which can be good of course), but you cant rely on them to perform the way they should any more.

In the early days i did a bit of 4wding with them, and was amazed at the places they'd take me where others with muddies required snatch/winches. Being 17" they dont bag out much at all though, and the ATR really isnt a serious offroad tire. I found the tires would chip a lot and the sidewalls on mine in places have chipped through to material.

I reckon Ill be lucky to see 60k on these tires, and I wont be getting them again.

BRAND. - Mickey Thompson

TYRE SIZE - 31 x 10.5 x 15

TYPE - MTZ Muddies

SUSPENSION LIFT. - 2", but no mods required to fit these. (was running before suspension lift)

RIM SIZE. - Genuine 15" Toyota Steel Rims

WEAR, PERFORMANCE ON and OFF ROAD
I use these tires for offroad only. I swap all 5 over with the 5 x ATRs that ive got.. what can i say though.. These tires are AWESOME. especially on road which quite surprised me.. granted ive only done 2000kms on them, but on road they stick like glue. i can throw the lux into anything and come out the other side grinning..

Dirt roads, brilliant, I try to get her sideways in corners and she hardly moves.
Mud, no problems.
Rock Climbing was the only time i had to stop, roll back and have another go due to being wet and steep.. but i got up second go.. the rocks seem to chip little edges off them, but you'd get that with any tire..

My only concern with these tires is lifespan. because they are a much softer compound, they are obviously prone to wear a lot quicker. hence why i change them back for daily work driving.

Buggerall chipping,

soft tread but seems to be handling well, 3000 klms so can't discuss long term life...

(As a comparrison my previous BFG 225,75,16 only lasted 35,000klms and the 245,70,16 where looking ratty after another 35K... the skinny's where chewing out due to flex and understeer I think - ROH RTX 16x8 Rims)

PS... MTZ are real Mud Slingers.... they clean themselves really well and although reported as not great on clay they are 50 times better then the BFG AT's on clay....

BRAND. Cooper

TYRE SIZE. 32x11.5x15

TYPE.
STT Muddies

SUSPENSION LIFT.
Tough Dog 2"

RIM SIZE.
15” SR5 Rims

WEAR, PERFORMANCE ON and OFF ROAD
Love em. minimal wear after 20000km little bit of noise on road but personally I like the sound. Great in mud and on rocks but dig holes very quickly in soft sand need to be careful on takeoff on the beach.
No rubbing at all front mud flaps removed. Rims aren’t really wide enough for this size tyre but I have had no problems but haven’t aired down below 18psi haven’t needed to.
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy!!

BRAND. Kumho KL78

TYRE SIZE. 215/85/16

TYPE. AT LT

SUSPENSION LIFT. NA

RIM SIZE. Factory OEM steel

WEAR, PERFORMANCE ON and OFF ROAD
Only have 15000 on them but appear to be wearing ok. Can only compare them with original OEM tyres; better ride quality, performance on wet tar roads is far superior they have even stopped my wife doing fishtails on her way to work. slightly noisier on hard surface, braking distance has very marginally increased. I don't do any weekend warrior stuff, touring rough outback roads and tracks is my limit. Have done a lot of kms on these types of tracks and found the tyres track very well on sandy surfaces and are very good at dealing with muddy water covered tracks. When I bought these they were only available in 8 ply but now they have brought out a 10 ply which i will buy again dependent on eventual mileage. Would give them at least 8.5 out of ten.

BRAND. Mickey Thompson ATZ 5 Rib

TYRE SIZE. 30x9.5R15 104R LT 744mm Rolling Diameter. Went with this size to ensure compliance with the NSW RTA technical regulations.

TYPE. A/T

SUSPENSION LIFT. 50mm - though these will fit without mods and were originally fitted without mods

RIM SIZE. 15x7 Genuine Toyota SR5 Rims, +30 offset

WEAR and PERFORMANCE ON + OFF ROAD Had these tyres for 12,000km. Great tyre on and off road, quiet and quite aggressive for an A/T tyre. Mainly used in dirt, sand and a bit of mud. Unfortunately the load rating in this particular tyre (104) is below that legally required in NSW (which I only discovered sometime after owning them) hence why I no longer have them. I would thoroughly recommend them as a tyre for anyone looking for a A/T and or daily driver tyre but just ensure that you choose a tyre with the required load rating.

BRAND. BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A

TYRE SIZE. 245/70R16 113S LT 750mm Rolling Diameter. Went with this size to ensure compliance with the NSW RTA technical regulations. Without an engineering cert this is legally the biggest size you can fit to an SR lux in NSW.

TYPE. A/T

SUSPENSION LIFT. 50mm - though these tyres will fit without mods

RIM SIZE. 16x7 Speedy Grande Alloys (Prado Copies), +30 offset

WEAR and PERFORMANCE ON + OFF ROAD Had these tyres for 14,000km. Great tyre on and off road, quiet and quite aggressive for an A/T tyre. Mainly used in dirt, sand and a bit of mud. Very happy with these tyres and their load and speed rating after my last experience. The move to the 16inch rim while it increases the cost of your tyres does make it easier to find tyres with the appropriate load rating. I would thoroughly recommend them as a tyre for anyone looking for a A/T and or daily driver tyre.

BRAND - Maxxis Bighorn

TYRE SIZE - 285/75x16

TYPE - Mud Terrain

RIM SIZE - 16x8 Dynamic Black Steel Wheels, 0 Offset.

SUSPENSION - About 3" Lift

RUBBING - Yes A little on the front bumper, need to trim abit more

WEAR, PERFORMANCE ON and OFF ROAD - Wear has been good so far, have done about 15,000-20,000km on them and rotate them every 5000km the sips have worn out but still fine on the road... Good in the mud can feel them digging in to find traction, on steep rocky hills seem fine to, havent done much sand driving so cant comment. Good tyre for the price on and off road adn will probably get another set once these have worn out... very happy with them :D

COST - i paid $280 each for them about a year ago but have gone up now i think
