After seeing mine on these 90 series Prado wheels (16x7 +20) I wouldn't fit them to wheels with any greater positive offset. I'll show you next weekend. I can almost picture your hilux running Prado steelies powdercoated Retina Reaming Red.

CSA make alloys in 16x7 +20. I was running my 265/75 R16 MTZ's on them.

Hey Rocman i notice from your shed profile your Lux is an Auto. How has your fuel ecconommy changed and any figures would be great. Ive gota set of 265/75/16 bfg mt's and they are a play set, but from the times ive had them on road my fuel ecconommy seemed to suffer more than i thought it would have. As a play set bigger tyres arnt an issue but as im driving to work on average 6 days a week im just running 31's on road as on road fuel ecconommy is important. In the long run if i go bigger tyres overall eventually i may looking at re gearing to help etc, but am always curious as to when guys with Auto Lux's put bigger rubber on how much they suffer in fuel ecconomy stakes.

well Oz Bruiser that lux of yours looks pretty sick with them 255/85's on it, im too keen to get them now. i was swaying towards bighorns tho... i was just wondering if anyone knows how they go on the road, eg road noise, grip etc. and also i've got advanti riot 16x8 rims, would anyone know what sort of offset they are and if this size 255/85 will be okay to fit them to. cheers

been off the site for quiet a while and have come back to find this thread abuzz! have been running these on 90 series prado 16x7 steelies for almost two years now, (i think i was the second person on here after gone fishing to have them) mate they will fit on an eight inch rim but ideally they work the best on a 7 inch rim, especiall if you want to air them down etc, as far as on road which i normally try to only run them this way when heading to where im off to, they are fine for a mud tyre, however you will definately feel the high side walls unless you keep them nice and inflated and even then i still feel it if i shit directions rapidly, but could just be me! any way i highly recomend this size tyre anybody out there as another alternative to 33 inch size tyre, although mine are more like 33.8 fully inflated but they are KM1's

Hey thanks for the help rokitryder, so you said you have been running bighorns on those steeliers for almost 2 years... how many kms you been getting out of them? i currently have 245/75 cooper st-c and have done 43000 kms and theyre nearly shagged. a mate has bighorns on his patrol and been doin smoke runs and burnouts for 50 000 kms and theyre still not lookin that bad. i cant really much see the point in spending 360 odd on km2's when you could spend 270 - 300 max on bighorns which are still meant to be a pretty good tyre. i run about 28- 30 psi in my wheels atm what sort of pressures are good for the 255/85 size?

Hey Tufflux I think you'll find RokitRyder is running BF Goodrich KM's. He only uses them for offroad and has different set for daily driving. I can't see these bighorns lasting 50 000km if you were to smoke them up often. I've been experimenting with tyre pressures offroad using 20,22 and 24 psi so far. I haven't found my ideal pressure yet but they all work. On road I'm running them at 34 psi and they feel pretty good. The only gripe I have with them is understeering on winding gravel roads. It's the same whether they are at 20 psi or 34 psi. I wonder if RokitRyder has the same experience with the BFG's

As for your previous post re Bighorns on road noise and grip. They are a mud tyre so you have to expect a bit of a whir from them. Personally I think they are louder than my old worn out MTZ's . . . . or maybe it's just the different tone. They handle pretty well on dry bitumen, but not as good as my previous MTZ's. I think the taller sidewalls play a big part here and also the MTZ's have a Square(r) edge. In the wet the Bighorns are like any mud tyre. Treat them with respect and they'll hold the road and get you home safely. Drive like a clown and they will give you hours of fun and entertainment. . . . .and hopefully get you home safely.

This size tyre provides a comfortable ride.

these tyres would work well on a 7" rim aired down heaps, like I mean 10 - 12 pounds if you treat them with respect so as not to bust a bead. they will confirm to any obstacle and the tall and narrow design will curve and grip all obstacles.

X 2 to the above posts tufflux, and yeah got the BF KM1's for play, so they are differnet to the KM2's, cant say i have any experience with the bighorns mate sorry, however mate has buckshots and is happy with them, however they do wear away quicker than mine but i think they would be tit for tat with the km2's as they are a softer compound.
And sorry boys i have had these for just over a year not two just had a look at the receipt! but yeah put a few K's on em and they are holding up great, especially when you drop them down low like mmaaxx said they just grip and grip, and dont seem to pop on some pretty gnarly shaly rocks out around the great deviding range up here!

thanks for that guys, sorry if this changes the subject but how does the clutch handle 33's in this size?

Factory clutch isnt too great to begin with.....

I havent got a manual but Id assume you'd ride it that little bit more than normal.

When it does wear out, upgrade the clutch to a stronger unit which should solve any future issues.

Okay thats what i thought anyways. im still tossing up whether they will fit with a 2" ome lift with 10mm spacer at front... coz i have a tray back and usually carry a 4 wheeler and am a bit worried itll rub on the inside front wheel arch where the flares go....

Has anyone seen these or run these tyres. Are they even still avaliable? Creepy in a 255/85/16

i inquired about this size ages ago with Maxxis. i rang head office here and also emailed maxxis in the USA and neither knew anything about them.....which i found hard to beleive. theyd be awesome as a second set...bigger than the usual 255....

Yeah I knew Max looked at them and I was looking into them a couple of months ago. HOW FARKIN GOOD WOULD THEY BE But couldn't find anyone in OZ bringing them in, in that size. Please let us know if you find out any more info.

if your looking at those Maxxis tyres then you could go as an alternative for the LTB Swampers....34/10.5x15 or 16

equate to 33.6x11.2 and available in Australia.

No. It won't work. I have 2" lift and am running this size and rub under extreme conditions. Even though it is only under extreme conditions, I can't see how you could run this size with 1" lift. You would rub going up a gutter.
