285's fit under the tub no problem, even with 3" exhaust

as for fitting to the vehicle, you can fit them without lift by spacing your bump stop by 10mm.

general rules for fitting are:
+10 offset
forward castor
trim as needed
2011 Dual Cab SR5 D4D manual.

Here you go. The tank provides a good platform to provide stability for the spare

The 265 32" in this pick looks like it hangs down a lot - photo taken from low angle.
I never got it caught up on anything when touring - just need to be mindful if negotiating bouldery terrain
Image
A 285 33" will obviously be lower however if you draw a line from the middle of the left rear tyre where it touches the ground to the lowest point on the bumper you will not loose any departure clearance
You will however need to get a cover for your spare if travelling on gravel roads at speed - the spare rim gets peppered with stone chips but this happens to spares without an aux tank too.

That does give a very clear idea of what to expect, it should be fine under there for general touring (with a some sort of stone shield), I'll just have to remember to relocate it for any rough stuff.

I've already got them on the vehicle, just never bothered with a spare until now.

f$@#&% thats the most reading ive done for a long while!
Ive currently got 265/75/16 on zero offset im looking at going 285/75 on the same zero offset wheels ive got
From what i gathered, +15 offset wheel will be ideal for less trimming, but zero offset will be a better stance and ride but will require more trimming.
Im running 2inch lift in an 09 lux
Can anyone comfirm what im saying is correct? Before i go spend my hard earnt money on some new tread 8-)

Your correct in saying you'll be doing some trimming! Especially with only 2inch. Mite want to consider a body lift. The amount of trimming will be determined by what tyres you get.

From what I've heard pos10 is fairly common.

Has anyone fitted 33x11.5 r16? I'm looking at a set of simex Jungle trekkers in this size. I've got 2.5 lift and have previously run 285s without issues. Anyone with a manual V6 run 33's without re gear?

Either 0 or +10 but I'd go with zero. Getready to do some cutting!

285/75r16 is 33x11.5r16. Simex might be an issue though, their 33" tyres are closer to 34" in actual measurement.

How about getting 285/75/16 with a 4 inch lift no body lift, i know you would still do a little cutting but is there much more involed. :)

I have an 03 Sr5 petrol dual cab. It has a 2" sus lift and i just fitted 33x12.5r15 BFG KM2's on a set of 15x7 steelies with a +7 offset.

It rubs on the rear of the front guard and also rubs the sway bar at full lock. As a temporary fix i have adjusted the steering stop bolts (ie widen my turning circle) to stop the swaybar scrubbing and i have cut away at some of the plastic flares and grinded some of the body mount / hammered the pinch weld.

There is now no rubbing during normal driving, however with a bit of flex (going over a speed bump on an angle for example) i start hearing some scraping again. Its booked in next week for a 2" body lift. Does anyone reckon the body lift will get me out of trouble or will it just move my problem 2 inches away?

Should i do some more cutting or consider an alternative offset?

Thanks for the help.

Strange I have a 4 inch profender lift kit running 33s 285/75r16 on 16x8 0 Offset cut the guards a bit then fitted jungle flares my tire doesn't hit the body mount nor sway bar. Although my lift kit is stage 2 so I have after market upper control arms, and I'm running Federal Courgia M/T doesn't scrub at all even when flexed. If you go higher then 2 inches in supension you need to drop your diff for CV angles also pays to add longer bump stops other wise your going to be in a hell lot of hurt when your shock bends !! I'd never body lift my car there is no reason for this and adds more things to wear and tear let alone the cost of it to be done

Yeh, so dont your tyres actually measure to 32.8 x 11.2 ? I have 2" less of a lift and 1.7" more width in my tires.

How much of the guards did you cut out? And whats your offset? Id say at this point i have only "trimmed" and "massaged" the guards. Maybe i need to do more.

What is everyones thoughts on loosening the wheel stops?
