Can get a pic up tomoz. Mite be better chasing someone with the same tyre you want to get? Im only running an all terrain at the moment (bout 20mm hanging out) and im sure most if not all muddies would hang out a fair bit more.

i have a set of 16x7+7 dynamic rims and a 2-2.5 inch lift all the way round on an 06 hilux. Would a set of 285/75/16's be ridiculously hard to fit?

i have mates running 285s on standard 7 inch rims for years no problems, so dont really think it will be an issue.

Agree. The fact that they can fitted and inflated doesn't mean that it's a good idea.

Handling, steering, braking will all be better if they are on 8", although 7.5" is usually around the minimum manufacturers recommendation. If you are stuck on 7", I think you would find that 265/75 handles better than 285/75.

i have seen first hand that they work absolutely fine on and offroad in 285 and 7 inch so it not really a concern to me. just need to know if its ridiculosly hard to fit the 285s?

Nope no problems at all they drive smooth on and off-road. Keep pressure, delfate well, steering feels fine.

I thought i would let you know about my 33" fitment (in case it helps anyone). I previously ran BFG A/T 275/65R17 (a bit less than 31" i think). They were great - no punctures at all and about 70000 kms. I was debating going to 265/70R17 (around 32"?), but after reading 62 pages of thread, decided to give 33's a go. I decided on BF Goodrich 285/70R17 KM2 mud terrains (i had read they were a small 33" - not sure if that is true).

I have a 2 inch Ultimate Suspension lift, factory UCAs and 17x8 P22 alloys. The P22 offset worried me, as by about page 30 of the thread it seemed P15 was ideal (or P10). So i thought the body mount would be fine, but UCA could present an issue. I took off the off the remaining front mudflap (one had been lost offroad), and followed the instructions on page 1 (stanley knife to the guard, hammer to the pinch weld, and heat gun to the plastic wheel liner to push it back - i also sprayed some killrust paint to protect things).

I got the tyres from Tempe Tyres in Sydney, and they did a test fit before deciding on the 33's (took about 2 hours as they were packed as usual). They were $375 each fitted and balanced (way more than the 26570R17 at $295). $40 for a front wheel alignment. They fitted my new TPMS for free.

Some pics below (they are a bit big - don't know how to fix that)
BFG KM2 285/70R17 on Incubus 17x8 P22 alloys (they cleaned the tyres, but the rims were conveniently ignored)
Image

Full Lock - it clears the body mount easily, but does brush the chassis at the back, and maybe brushes the sway bar at the front. (i can tell from a faint black mark in the wheel arch that's caked with Yahwal mud). Whites facing in...
Image

Clearance of UCA with wheels straight - i can get a finger in there
Image

Clearance of UCA with full lock - it comes closer at the front when wheel turned, but can still get a pinky in there
Image

Clearance of body mount - seems to be a bit of space - maybe the P22 offset helped
Image

I also took the opportunity to fit a TPMS. I got a Steelmate TP-05, with internal sensors and a reversing camera override to display pressures, temps and warnings. Its great so far!

So all up a good outcome.

I am not sure what issues will present when the wheels flex. I might put some washers on the bump stops (not sure how many)? I am hoping that as it clears the UCA now, it will also do so when flexed (is this the case?). Not sure if i should worry about the chassis or sway bar, otherwise i would have to get 4 new wheels (i think dynamic do a 17x8 P10 steelie). Or a 6mm shim (bringing the P22 to P16)?

Thanks guys!
