265x75x16 tyres on Hilux

Postby olcoolone on Mon, 16 Mar 2009 3:12 +0000

Can you fit 265x75x16 tyres on the current Hilux with a 2 inch lift kit with out scrubbing on any thing when 4x4ing.

We currently have 245x75x16 tyres with no problems.

We want to go bigger for a bit ground clearance.

The 245's are 775mm Dia. and the 265's are 807mm Dia.over all, going to 265's will give me about another 20mm's under the diffs.

the 75 part of the number is a percentage of the width I believe...

265 is the width 75 is the height of the tyre sidewall and 16 is the hole in the centre lol
They will fit but the main factor is what offset your wheels are. The wider the offset the more chance of rubbing
Im not stuck..... Im thinking

I have just put on 265/75 about half worn, on CSA magnum 16x8 rims with 0 offset.
I have the OME front lift 30mm
I had these rims off my old cruiser, have removed the front mud flaps but they still rub one side a touch when reversing out of the drivway on full lock but would rub more if offroading.
I think with +10 or +20 offset they wouldn't rub
The problem with doin' nothing is that you never know when youre finished

Apparently, getting a wheel alignment can get the wheels moved forward a tad to stop this...

Will confirm next week when I get mine done...

wheel alignment can fix this.....you casn always request them to move the wheel as much forwards as possible within spec.

yes, a more positive offset would be more beneficial to you....or trim

So if I decide on a 265/75/r16, is 16x8 with 0 offset the best choice for rims? I have trawled through the threads for a few days now but would like some clarification.

Hey Mate,

Got 7 inch prado steel wheels, about a +20 offset, with 265/75/16's for off road,

this is perfect, dont even have alift at the moment, and these are as if they were what MR Tojo should have put under neath the ute from the factory, very slight rubbing at full lock when maxing out suspension so with a two inch lift you'll be laughing.

just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the reply Ryder.
I am coming from a GU where -27 offset and 33" tyres are easy. I know the partol4x4 forum like the back of my hand and understand when noobs come to that site and find it hard to digest all the information that I have been following for a few years. Now its happening to me here. I had a 90 series prado before the GU but things have come a long way in terms of aftermarket options for IFS since then.

Hey Antz

I've got 2-3" suspension lift, 16 x 7's +20 offset and 265/75/16 MTZ's. No rubbing but I haven't had a chance to play hard with the combination yet.

Yeah the GU is very forgiving if you make a mistake on your lines. Sometimes I deliberately take the wrong line just to keep it interesting. Looking for more of a touring setup these days and sick of dealing with Nissan so back to the Lux. I had a 93 poverty pack single cab I purchased as my first work car.
