265x75x16 tyres on Hilux

Need something to get you rolling?

Hey all have scrolled through as much of the thread as I can, and while I feel more confident with upgrading my wheels tyres I'd still like to run the upgrade past those with more experience than myself before I commit - this is my first time delving into the 4x4 upgrade world.

Have a 2008 Dual Cab, with mine spec steel tray and previous owners put a 2" body lift on the car. The car is still running on the tyres I bought it with, Bridgestone 275/65/R17 AT's on SR5 wheels. Currently on all stock suspension with the intention of it being my upgrade after the tyres (if the following is ok!)

I'm looking to upgrade to 265/75/R16 BFGoodrich KM2 Mud Terrains on Sunraysia steel wheels. I'm leaning more toward 16x8 at +10 offset over 16x7 just from what I've read but would love to hear thoughts or suggestions on the selection of tyre, wheel and offset? I have every intention of doing a fair bit of off-roading if that has any bearing on advice, and wonder if I have any issues with scrubbing at all?

Thanks guys!

What juk3box said I need to know this as well as I will be doing the exact same thing, don't know wether to go 16x7 or 16x8 and i'am worried about the shape of the sunraysia scraping the calipers as it has previously done to ones I've tried.

Jukebox must have read my mind about what he is asking. I have currently got 245/70/16 on 16x7 sunnys and am looking at putting an OME 2" lift in, as well as getting a set of tyres as well. I'm leaning towards 265/75/16 on a 16x8 sunny, and no just trying to work out the offset, either a +10 or +20 seems to the be the general consensus on these wheels.

if you just give your local tyre shop and tell them you have a set of stock hilux wheels (16x6 is what size they are) and ask what the widest tyre they can fit to that size rim, they would be able to tell you straight away.
I also wanted to get some sunraysia rims too. Maybe I should get the rims first then see what size tyres to fit them? But not sure what's the biggest rim size I can put on.

i have 16x8 with a +10 offset with 285/75's on them. but i also have a 2" lift. i think you can run 265/75 on a 16x7 rim with a +20 offset with only having to remove your front mud flaps with no lift.
are you planning on putting a lift in at all or just leaving it stock height?

Hey Diezel45, did you have to chop body mounts at all running the 285/75/16 on the p10 rims?
I have a 2.5inch lift in the front and thinking of going the same tyre and wheel size and just wondering what mods I will have to do to make this work?
Thanks

I done some searching and could not find a straight answer, i have a 2012 SR Extra Cab, going to put a set of 265/75 R16 on a set of 16x7 rims with MTZ's.
Has any one fitted this size tyre on a rim offset of +35 which would keep the wheel track within the 26mm, but would also bring the inside of the tyre 3mm closer to the chassis. Wanting to know if they rub at all under full lock and full compression with a 2inch lift, before i go and spend a heap of coin on these

Any help is appreciated.

Cheers Jeremy

A p35 rim seems an odd offset mate, are you sure there not p30? p30 is factory.

(p35 17x7.5 was the steel wheel that came on the vsc pack)

You can just use your GPS to figure out the real speed after putting on your new wheels.

ive got a d4d auto and to be honest i reckon the speedo is more accurate than the 265/65/17 i had on before. 110 gps is about 112 on the gauge

Hey fellas
I've read this thread and still not sure if I can fit a 16 inch steel sunny with 265/75/R16 KM2 on a 2013 SR5 Dual Cab. If anyone can give me a definitive answer that would be awesome. Also what size rim, ie 16x8 with what offset and any brand they recommend. Cher s Craig

I've got 265/75 16 big km2's on my 14 sr, they are on gu patrol rims. Speedo is spot on according to gps but fuel economy went from 9L/100km too 11.5 just with the tyres and rims!

i've got my MT ATZ P3's on 16x7's pos 10 ROH Trojan alloys and the rims look small for the tyre but they're doing the job, the rim pulls the sidewall in which probably helps hold the bead when aired down.(i do a lot of sand driving) i often wonder if i should have gone with 16x8 instead. i tried a 265/75/16 bridgestone dueler on a 16x8 rim to see what it would look like and the rim looked to big for that tyre so i went for the 7" instead. different brand tyres fit the rim better than others. i should have bought my tyres first and tried them on a spare rim to work out which rim size to buy. find a good tyre shop to buy your tyres if you havnt got them already and get them to try them on different rims, my local tyre place has second hand rims laying around. these are on my SR 2013 with TJM flares, the tyres fit the flare just right, so i would think pos 20 without flares will sit outside the gaurd a bit, someone else might answer that better than me.

I have 265 75 16 on a +20 16x7 rim with no dramas. Only reason to go to 8inch would be if you're thinking of upgrading to a bigger tyre in the future.. 7 inch would be pushing it.

Welcome to the forum Ben.

I've merged your post into this thread as there's stacks of info on fitting 265/75/16 tyres Here.

You'll be fine with anything between zero and +20.

Another good thread on this is here http://www.newhilux.net/forum/viewtopic ... 27&t=11217
Cheers Rod

Good luck finding black sunrasias in +10, I rang around everywhere a few months ago and couldn't find any, I even had the blokes from jax ring suppliers to see if I could get some imported with no luck.
I just ended up getting a set of gu patrol steelies from a wrecker
