I’m in a Wheel Dilema!

Greetings,

Wondered if anyone could advise (or even better, post pictures!).

Here in the UK, I have a late 2011 Invincible Hilux with 17” 265x65xr17’s

I love the 15” Titanium coloured wheels that came with the earlier Thai imports from around say 2006. I’ve found a set, and as I need new tyres I thought now’s the time to maybe buy some.

I’ve also seen a set of these in 16” which I didn’t know they did - why did they change them?

However, I have a sneaky feeling that the 15’s won’t fit and that Toyota changed the caliper size part way through the MK6. Can anyone shed any light on this for me, and save me a wad of cash buying something that won’t fit?

I’ll upload a pic of the wheels so hopefully this will help and thank you for reading this !

Regards Mafo.

Mine is a 2004 so I can't comment on your model, but I run 15" because (in Australia) the rubber seems to be cheaper than on larger rim sizes. It doesn't make sense to me because to get the same rolling diameter you need more material on the smaller rims, but that's how it is. I also have some 16" rims out in the shed if a set of tyres ever turns up at the right price I can go that way as well.

The easy way to find out would be to measure the brake rotors. The upgrade was a larger caliper and rotor i believe. Does your car have VSC?

Don't know about foreign hilux but if the wheels are standard at 17" my guess is the brake rotors are the larger ones and 15" won't fit! In Australia the 2012 upgraded model has the larger disk rotors.
Cheers Gipsy :D although I'm sure somebody will challenge that  even Einstein wasn't certain of his theories.
