Tallest SR5 tyres

Postby Phil123 on Thu, 08 Oct 2020 5:14 +0000

Hi Im after bit of advice and a forum search didnt quite work,
I have a 2013 SR with a 2 inch lift and factory front flares and tray on the back,.I have aquired a set of factory 2014 SR5 17 inch x 7.5 wide alloy wheels. I want to know the tallest tyre size I can fit to this without them rubbing anywhere? Also, Im a fan of BFG's all terrains, so I prefer these unless anyone has a better option?
Thanks in advance

From memory, 265/65R17 or 265/70R17 are about as good as it gets for no rubbing. Keep in mind you can only go up to 50mm larger than stock size if you want to keep it legal and be insured etc.

In my opinion, 32in tyres are the sweet spot for tyres on the hilux. They aren't legal though: viewtopic.php?f=27&t=11217

BFGs are good but there are a lot of equivalent if not better these days: viewtopic.php?f=27&t=3765

The search is very useful but this page will give you most of the info you are looking for: viewforum.php?f=27
I might be wrong.

Phil, take a look at the Toyo AT2 and Falken AT2 . They are less expensive and at least as good as the BFG. The Toyo are genuine light truck construction with real load carrying capacity and heavy duty sidewalls so you can run low pressure off-road. I have Toyo 265/65/17 on my stock SR5 rims and can't fault them.
Cheers Gipsy :D although I'm sure somebody will challenge that  even Einstein wasn't certain of his theories.
