Hi guys,
My old man and i recently picked up our first Hilux SR 4x4 V6, tyres will need to be replaced soon and have found a good deal on sr5 stockies with brand new Yokohama G015 all terrains on them.
Question is, does anyone run them and have real world experience?
I'm worried the ute will slide around too much during heavy downpour as the rear tray/tub is empty 80% of the time.

Ahh,chief re read and it looks like you're buying second hand? Shouldn't worry as Yoko's are good too.

G012 were good wet weather tyres but no good for towing. I changed to Toyo AT2 for the LT sidewall.

For what is worth I ran them for 60000 kms, great wearing, great wet weather tyre, great on blacktop, good off road, just not very aggressive. Lux weighs around 2.6-2.7 daily

What do you mean by not very aggressive? (new to 4x4 stuff)

Not very aggressive means not a block tread so good for black top and general off-road but not really for extreme off-road. Unless you really need to go off-road a lot these are fine for general use and block tread is almost always noisy. The blockier the noisier and not so good in the wet!
It's worth going to a tyre dealers and compare the tread between HT (Highway use) AT (all terrain) and mud (really blocky). The geolanders are a medium between HT and AT.
If you google the Yoko's and Falken mud tyres you will see the difference.

They tread is more road looking and has a tame sidewall style like a more traditional AT tyre. Don't get me wrong they have gone pretty much everywhere I've asked them, off road run generally between 18-22 psi.

I still have my Yokis. I have 8-9mm tread but I just upgraded to a newer hybrid style AT from Maxxis in the Raza AT. It's really quiet and great off road but has a more aggressive look. The newer Hybrids off AT quietness and more aggressive looks. Sort of a half way between a AT and a Mud.
I upgraded said had my Yokis for day to day and general off road and a set if Muds for serious fun but they just wernt used often enough to justify swapping between AT and MT so went a more aggressive Agrresive AT to only run one style.

Yokos will be more than enough for my needs!
Will be taking it on some closer trips this summer, nothing serious so its nice to know that it's great off road also
