Need something to get you rolling?

2015(FEB) Dual Cab Hilux 4x4 Wheel Choice?

Postby Compass on Fri, 06 Sep 2019 6:04 +0000

Hi,

I have a all stock 2015 KUN26R D-4D 3.0L Dual Cab 4x4 Hilux(Alu tray)....last of the 'old' series.

Current wheels/rims are the stock 17x6J rims with Dunlop Grandtrek AT 20's at 225/70 R17 108S

Pretty much sold on the Yokohama Geolandar LT 245's as linked, the Pirelli's as a second choice, both LT tires.

https://www.tyresales.com.au/buy/tyre/y ... gIYHPD_BwE

https://www.tyresales.com.au/buy/tyre/p ... r16/139866

Mostly highway, city driving with occasional towing a heavy camper trailer on dirt roads, and some beach driving(without camper)

I don't plan on getting a lift kit, flares or anything, so my question is which rims should I get? Offset?

Thanks in advance,

Mitch

Any 17x7 with an offset similar to stock will work, countless aftermarket wheels available, or you could use wheels off a Prado.

Thanks, the linked tires are 245/70 R16 size, not 225/70 R17, so wider with a smaller rim dimension, hence the question. Don't think they will fit on a R17 rim, or will they without looking ridic?

Sorry, didn't click on the tyre link, assumed you'd be sticking with same diameter wheel, just a wider tyre (245/65R17).

That said, there are still countless aftermarket options, most alloy wheel shops online have a table to choose what fits, a 16x7 with somewhere around +25 offset would fit well without flares. (PS-I changed my first post when I realised Klugers and most Lexus are using 5 stud now).

Thanks appreciate the replys....if I go down to R16 but wider then there are a whole lot more choices in available tires....the R17x6 is kind of odd....not many choices

What about the stock SR5 rim option? Prado Grande are the same dimension rim too, Speedy sell them as replicas called Grande. Just use the arrows to see the 4 different varieties, available in 17x7.7 or 16x7 to suit.

Yeah they look ok, if I decide later to move upto 265 wide tires will they fit on the 16 x 7 rims? Or should I just get 16 x 8 rims to start with?(I'm assuming the 245's will fit on the 16 x 8 without any drama)

Standard tyre on SR5 from 2012 was 265/65/17 on 17x7.5.
