Hey guys i have just installed sr5 flares on my 07 hilux was looking into 16x8 -13 dynamic wheels for the car.
Is any one else running a set on a the same model hilux?
Just need to know how far out they poke past the guards
or any suggestions, looking to have a more aggressive set up (dont care for rubbing a hammer and cutting wheel can fix that ;) )
Photos would be great thanks

Im running 16x7 +7 atm and the car looks like a spaceship with the flares on
tyres are 265 75 16

285s on zero offset hang out of the sr5 flares. -13 id be more worried about keeping wheel bearings up to it.

TOYZX, what do you mean keeping wheel bearings up to it with -13 offset wheels?

What he means is you will rip wheel bearings to bits in no time with that sort of wheel offset

Right........so definitely stay away from -44 offset wheels.

What's the technical reason why they ruin wheel bearings.

Lateral load shifting - instead of the weight of the vehicle being evenly distributed over the centre of the bearing, it is creating torsional pressure to the top and bottom of the bearings due to extra leverage.

That make a lot of sense, will definitely put that into consideration when buying a new set up for my rig. Thanks a lot guys.

I had the exact rims your are talking about on my old hilux for a few years without any wheel bearing issues. If you use a good quality bearing it will last longer, but they wont last as long as the correct offset rim.
But at the end of the day buy the rims your are happy with the look of, i had ones that were inside the guards and hated them, sold them and got the -13 because the looked great and cleared the calipers.

The bearing loading is why you cannot fit offsets greater than +17.5 to these. Doesn’t matter what you think it looks like or if it fits under the flares or not, if you have a bearing let go and hurt someone badly you probably won’t have any Insurance coverage. Maximum track change is 25mm, in NSW they are really cracking down on it. You will probably find eventually that tyre shops will be banned from fitting rims and tyres that change offset by more than 12.5mm or tyre diameter by more than 50mm.
