2010 2 wheel drive hilux wheel choices

Hi,

I'm after some advice from the 2 wheel drive Hilux people on the board.

I have a 2010 SR Hilux and am looking at putting some mag wheels on it. My current thinking is about 18' x 7.5" rims with 235 x 50 tyres. this will give me a 27.3' tyre height over the stock 25.5".

The most "off road" it see's is on the lawn of our property, so 99.9999% of the time it's on road only and the heaviest thing it carries is the odd load of bark or rarely gravel.

I didn't really want the "fully sick" look of 20" plus wheels with a strip of insulation tape called a tyre.

What have other people done or their experiences with wheel and tyre sizes on the 2 wheel drive Hilux's.

Hi Dave

Havea look at the mags and tyres fitted to Klugers, they come in 16, 17 and 19 inch and fit straight on. Right PCD and offset too.
I put 16 inch ones with 225/60 tyres and was good on the ride but handled much better and filled the wheelarches better too.

Looked for second hand Kluger and Aurion wheels but all meant a drive to Sydney so bought some new mags locally.
I went with 18x7.5 rims and 235x50 tyres, this combo was pretty much as big as I could fit (while maintaining a 50 series profile) without any rubbing issues.
Next onto the airbox mod for the V6.

Hey mate, what was the offset on the wheels you bought?

I hear conflicting info on the stock offset, but after some research and after measuring it myself I believe they are a +45 offset. (this is from my 2009 4x2 hilux workmate with 15x6 wheels, 205/70/15 tyres).

I am looking at the 17" kluger wheels too with the 245/65/17 tyres, but they have an offset of +35 I believe? And I have heard reports of the rims rubbing the calipers too...but then again have also seen them fitted to some hilux's on the road.

Hi CF,

No idea on the offset but they are a multi fit wheel for most things Toyota. I understand that wheels from the Kluger and Aurion (probably others too) are all interchangeable.
