I'm supprized how well you rate the fed's in name brands there about the cheapest
I've got Goodyear m/t and toyo open country m/t both I rate quite well, yet over in the us. They all can't wait to get the Goodyear's off saying how bad they are
I run mine down to 18-20psi and never had issues (also never need lower then 18psi)
I'm considering P3, irok or km2 muds next,
farting is alot like jxxxxxg off. both provide instant gratification, but neither is a long term solution to the actual problem......................

I have always dropped down to 15 psi anywhere near a beach......and about 18 psi on the tracks.....so much easier driving......just remember to drive accordingly and no sudden turns....

Hmmm,

I've still been looking now im came across this

33x10.5R16LT

I used a online conversion chart from imperial to metric and it tells me that

IMPERIAL 33x10.5R16LT is a METRIC 267/81R16

METRIC 285/75R16 is a IMPERIAL 32.8x11.2R16

I was thinking with the differences in Metric of
285/75R16
267/81R16

Why would a 33 imperial say 267
where a 32.8 imperial say 285???

I think ya just confusing yourself. Metric sizes measure the width and percentage of width ie 285/75 and imperial measure the overall diameter and the width ie 33x10.5. A conversion chart is more of a cross reference as to what size is close to what.

EDIT TO THIS!

I rang Huntsman 4x4 in Currum Downs, told them a quote i found to be the cheapest for 6 new Federal Courgias M/T 285/75R16
fitted, balanced and wheel alignment for $1370

So its booked in to get them,

Which worked out to be around 193 per tyre and 212 for the fitting & balance and wheel alignment

Piece of mind shop around before committing, Huntsman had the tyres advertised at 220 a tyre until i found them cheaper :)

Tyres are cheap but $212 for fitting is a little deer. When I got my Bridgestone's I got the fitting (which includes balance) for free and $90 for the alignment.

These weren't M/T tyres but still twice the price seems odd.

Sorry mate didnt read the FREE bit on your post haha, Well your darn lucky! It properly would of been cheaper if i ended up paying the 220 they wanted per tyre in the first place

from 220 to 193 im quite happy with that, besides $212 is quite cheap really

gotta remember i have 6 tyres

so really put it this way say 80 for a wheel alignment and 22 per tyre to be fitted and balanced

Need help choosing muddies

Postby jayden253 on Fri, 21 Jul 2017 8:18 +0000

Hey guys I've just done my tax and I'm in the market for a new set of muddies. I'm currently running kumho KL 71s in 285/75 r16. I'm wanting to go to a 305/70 16. I can't decide between a few different makes such as the mickey Thompson MTZ'S, BFG km2s. I mostly go rock crawling and play around in mud and do some beach runs to.
So please give me a hand deciding between the two. Or if there are any other decent brands to consider let us know.
Cheers guys

Of those two, I think BFG is the better option, but realistically, this sort of question never gets answered clearly, because everyone has their own favourites.

Nitto trail graplers. Mine have done 50k kms and still have more in them. Only flat u got was from roofing nail that went through a tread block. And when you let them right down they bag out well. But realistically unless you do 80% off road in mud and hard shit you better off getting all terrains. I wish i didi

I'm in the same situation. I've had several sets of BFG KO's and now on a set of BFG KM2, which have been great everywhere from the Vic high country to the Simpson.

Now I'm wondering if I should try another brand like Cooper or Nitto or go back to the KM2.

When i was in the US last year, Goodyear was very popular. Here I'm seeing a lot of people running the Toyo MT, so that might be an option too.

There us just too much choice.

Some like the mother ,other's the daughter.... Why change tyrebrand if you like it? U know what you have and not what you get... (I have both KO2 and KM2 for for two years now for different use and are pleased with them) Studded and siped Mud in winter and AT in summer.
