I am looking for people’s opinions on how long tyres should last.

I had a set of a Bridgestone Dueller D697 All Terrains fitted on 8.2.14 with 60243km on the car. The car has only done 50000km on these tyres, and they are on the wear markers now.

Considering I got 60243km out of the highway tyres and I have got less on All Terrain tyres, I think it is a bit poor. In the time I have had the AT tyres fitted, car has not been off road.

Should I try and claim warranty on these tyres, or just bite the bullet and pay for a new set of tyres?

In the time I have had the tyres, they have been rotated every 10000km and the pressures checked every two weeks. When I got the AT’s fitted, the guy at the tyre shop told me with regular rotations and pressure checking I should get around 80000km out of the tyres.

your not always going to get what you want from a set of tyres imo. Bite the bullet and buy a new set, regardless of how poor you thought the life was, i think it isn't TOO bad, certainly isn't great. Look at BF Goodrich to replace or Toyo, we have had a good run with these and good milage.

There are many thing to consider with how many kms a tyre will give

Did you get 4 or 5 tyres
Because in the fine print most will only see 80,000 with 5 tyres being roared
so doing the maths that 64,000km if you only have 4

I bought four tyres when I got the A/T's

The D697 have great road grip, particularly in wet, and very good cut and chip resistance. This means soft compound and less life. The BFGs, for example, suffer more from chips and cuts but last longer on the tarmac. These are the swings and roundabouts of tyre compound. You can't have soft and hard tyres at the same time. Would be nice if the D697 last a bit longer. 50k is a bit low. 60k is a bit low for the highway terrains as well. They always last the longest. Maybe you drive pretty fast or something. My D694 got damaged by a transort company so I never got to see how long they last. They had traveled about 50k and I reckon would have lasted about 70k.

On what grounds would you claim warranty? Is the 80,000km a written guarantee?

Done 40k on mine and will do that again easy, maybe more. Bugger all off road, 90% Canberra driving with a million roundabouts, rotated once maybe twice, 50psi, brilliant wet tyre.

Hey there SD.
As OBJ says they are a softer compound.
My partner had a set of these on her old lux - they lasted for 6 years before she sold the rig. The tyres still had plenty of tread left on them. Regularly used off road in the top end.
If you never go off road perhaps going back to a road tyre would be prudent.
If mostly used on road and still want an all terrain aesthetic & offroad ability consider these

Presently have these as daily runners - only done 7000km on them so far so cant say what they might look like at 60K

Yes, BFG's simply don't handle rocky / stony outback gravel. I have had two sets now that were both completely rooted at 25,000klm
the darker tyre I have just taken off the ute after 3000klm through Birdville and Innaminvka. Only 20,000 on them and totally munted, chipped and cut to shreds.

I have had a set of AT 694LT's and 2 sets of AT 697LT's and about to replace 2 tyres I damaged on a recent trip, cant find any reason to replace them with anything else as they are a good, tough all round tyre and give good value for your money. I live in Tasmania and travel extensively in the outback and deserts so test the tyres on all road surfaces, often loaded and heavy with camper and gear for long range outback travel. I replace my tyres before they're worn out and average about 40,000km before replacing them and selling the worn ones with about 10 - 15,000km tread left.
Tyres are like diesel, you don't go anywhere without them.

I went to the tyre shop yesterday and spoke to the manager about the mileage on these tyres. Was basically tole since they do not have a service history on these yres at the shop that sold them to me, they will be nothing that Bridgestone Australia will do.

He then tried to sell me ANOTHER set!!! WTF?

So now I am on the look out for a new set of hoops.

Guys any updates on the 697's, what pressures are u running where they rougher than the std highway tyres.
