Hows it going? I'm new to the site so if this topics been covered already sorry, I've recently got a new Extracab 4x4 SR5 Hilux and want to put some bigger tyres on. I want to put the biggest i can preferably without changing suspension (yet), i've noticed a few crew with 31x10.5x15, and was pretty keen on some wrangler MTR's in this size however the tyre dealer told me that the load rating on these was not high enough to be legal and would void my insurance on my new car. Another dealer told me that everyone just ignores this, what's the go? I'm sure others have been through this if any one can give me some tips on how to get around this i'd be stoked, I'm in WA if that makes any difference, Cheers.

I run BFG 255/85/16s these are not legal but the insurance company has them on the policy as the set i use when off roading the 245's go back on when on the black stuff.

Ended up getting the BFG all terrains 31/10.5/15, these have correct load rating, speed rating and increase diameter less than 50mm which is legal, they look heaps better too. Thanks for your help.

Nah, dont need them, these tyres aren't much bigger than the originals and don't stick out from the fender on the SR5. They are the same tyres as the ones in the photo at the top of this page on the New Hilux header. I'll put some photo's up of mine soon.

New to Hilux. Have 05 V6 current shape cab chas.

Recommendations for tyres on pretty skinny alloys. Would like to go as wide as possible.

Thanks in advance.
