265/70 R17 on new SR5?

Need something to get you rolling?

So after hunting around for Bridgestone 265/70R17 I'm now being told that size doesn't even exist in Bridgestone... Many places saying they were are out of stock, until I got fed up and rang Bridgestone HQ in Adelaide and they confirm to me that size only ever existed as H/T. They then tell me the only other option to get some height would be to go 275/65R17. Can anyone advise how I would go with these with a 2"OME lift?

275/65/17 is smaller in diameter than 265/70/17.

Everybody and his proverbial dog makes 265/70/17. There are plenty of choices, although not yet as many choices as in 16"

Why are you so hung up on Bridgestone ? Whats wrong with a Bridgy A/T in 265/70/17 ?

This doesn't need to be as hard as you're making it :) :)

I realise 275/65R17 is smaller than 265/70R17.
I want Bridgestone because I can get a discount on them.... and I do want the added height of 265/70R17 but as I said, (and confirmed by Bridgestone HQ in Adelaide) they don't make that size in A/T.

Thinking about this further, seeing as my car is a day to day driver it might actually just be better getting the standard size and be done with it. I just got the 2"OME lift and that seems to have given me as much lift as I hoped for plus the ride is way more smoother now. Happy with how it turned out.

Hi all,
I just picked up 2014 SR5 dual cab last week, yesterday I had set of MTZ 265/70 fitted and as soon as I turned out of the driveway it scraped. I've got it booked in for a 2" tough dog lift on my next break. Will this stop them scraping?

a 2" lift is definitely recommended for 265/70/17, it should fix the issue, but there is no guarantee :)

I have a 2011 SR5, just fitted 265 70 r17 cooper at3s and I'm getting rubbing front left on the rear of the tyre at near full lock, very slight on RHS too.

I don't really want to lift it but I do want more clearance in the wheel arch, if anyone has any clever tips, greatly appreciated!

Guess cutting off a small section of mud guard would help, but that will happen on its own in time.

Does a 50mm lift really fix the issue, going up won't really make any more clearance on the rear face of the arch will it?

Also my fuel in diesel auto went from 9.4 to 10.4, bit diss appointed actually I think the gearing is a tad tall for this diameter.

Don't forget that taller tyres will make your Odo show a little less ks than you have actually done. Exactly proportional to the increase in rolling radius.

So, what is the consensus all? On a completely stock 2014 Toyota Hilux SR5 D4D 3.0L Dual cab, will the BF goodrich KM2 mud terrain 265/70/17 tires rub?

I saw a brand new stocky in pre d at a dealers a couple of weeks ago fitted with those exact tyres on some sort of after market alloy(a toyota accessory, I think). Obviously requested by the buyer. Whether they rubbed or not, he would soon find out. Dealer had organised to fit them though - so ???

Will 265-70-R17 scrub SR5 with no lift?

Postby superlight on Fri, 05 Dec 2014 2:45 +0000

Hi. Looking at replacing the HT tyres that came stock on 2013 SR5. The existing tyres are 265-65-R17. Will the Cooper St Max or Mickey T in 265-70-R17 scrub? If so, will make for a simple choice between the two tyres as only the coopers come in 265-65-R17 and they are cheaper...... Thanks

Hey mate, I've got that size with 2inch lift and had to remove mud flaps.
There are a few threads already on this, try this one

you can get tyres other than coopers in 265 65 r17. I have bridgestone dueller AT in that size, im sure if you looked around you could find more.

Yeah thanks for merging the thread guys, missed that thread somehow (my bad). Sorry, I meant that between those particular mickey t's and coopers only the coopers have that size. I'm sure there will be plenty of other manufacturers and styles in that size.....Cheers

265/75/R16 on SR Dual Cab -No lift

Postby shred on Mon, 08 Dec 2014 6:56 +0000

hey guys, I'm sure the topic has been beaten to death before and I have searched alot but I couldn't find a definitive answer, does the 265/75/R16 fit without a lift?

I know it fits with a 2" lift because that's what I had on my old hilux.

I'll be getting this one lifted as well, but I just want to get rid of the cookie cutters ASAP so was wondering if they'd be alright until I got the lift. I'd be getting the BFG MT KM2's.

Cheers

Hi, have just installed 265/79/17 Cooper st maxx, I have a Dobinson 2" lift, my issue is the tyres are very close to the uca's that with the suspension compressed they will actually hit each other. Anyone have any solutions.
