I have prado rims which are the same offset as hilux rims and my tyres fitted without a lift, however i only drove for three days with them before the lift went in. I just got the heat gun and bent the mud flaps back a bit. However with that offset you will need flares cause they sit out past the guards.

I guess it wouldn't be recommended to go off road at all then with 32's unless a lift is fitted? Aswell how much do they stick out? I'm looking at a utemart flare kit just need money to get it colour matched prior to fitting, (car is tidal blue).

Hi guys, ive got a 08 sr5 with a 2" OME lift (sus only)

Im planning on buying a set of balistic jester wheels (17x9) (or similar) I think they come standard +12

i want to know what is the biggest A/T tyre i can fit (i dont mind removing mudflap). And does anyone know what offset i need for them to poke out past the guards a little (illegal i know)

Ive done a bit of research and i think ill be safest with a 265/70/17 (31.6") am i correct? i just have no idea about offsets.

thanks

Try ARB for flares mate. When i was kitting out mine they were the cheapest and a much better finish.
Never thought i'd actually hear myself giving ARB a recommendation but theres a first for everything!! :o

I'm running 265x75x16 on a 16x8 rim and P25 offset, it's a 07 Hilux with 2 inch lift and no rubbing at all.
Hope that helps.

I have a 2" lift and running king wheels in a +10 15x7. 32x11.5x15 km2, looks perfect in my opinion and I havent even come close to rubbing on anything. You will need flares though to keep them in line. pm me if you want some pictures.

What are peoples thoughts on the 265/70/r16's I currently am running bfg 265/75/r16s which are great I cant fault them... except I am constantly weighed around 2.8 ton. I Am considering the smaller tyre size for better braking as my discs are now heated affected and generally getting moving. it is chipped and three inch exhaust with terrain tamer heavy duty clutch but is still boggy in 1st on slight hills has anyone gone down to this size and noticed a considerable improvement I believe it is about 25mm difference in total tyre height.

thanks ben

Hey fellas
Got a 2009 extra cab hilux 4x4.
Jus bought a set of 17x8 20p offset crossfire desire's. Pretty sure I have a 2 inch lift in from memory. Bought the car last October ish. Been reading that people are running 265/70 17 and fitting good with no rubbing. Just wanna see if anyone is or knows if 285/70 17 will fit without rubbing. Not worried about sticking out cause I'll jus by utemart flares.

The 285/70/17 is essentially a 33" tyre and there's a tonne of info on fitting these in this thread.

viewtopic.php?f=27&t=3538&view=unread#unread

They will go on a 2" lift without rubbing, but you will need to make a number of mods to inner guards, guards, body mount etc.

Alright, I believe what I want to fit will work after reading through all the forum resources but I'm just looking for some final confirmation.

I've got a completely stock '06 SR. She'll be going in for a 2" lift in the coming months as well as receiving new upper control arms. I've settled on fitting 265/75R16 tyres (Cooper S/T MAXX) but I've been unsure on the wheel size. I believe that 16x7 at +20 will do the job with no scrubbing at all (on full-lock, full compression, etc.). Can anyone confirm this? I saw that rocket55's ex-build was running this set-up with no complaints so that's inspired confidence, plus the new UCAs offer a little more leeway during alignment.

I assume that this set-up will protrude from the guard; by how much would this be? I plan to fit flares to the vehicle so I want to ensure that they'll be within or aligned with the fitted flares.

Finally, this is more for curiousity's sake: it's been stated that anywhere between zero and +20 offset will do fine. Does choosing an offset in this range come down to preferred looks (i.e. deep dish), legality, or something else i.e. if I had to go with +10 due to availability, would I be sacrificing on something?

I have that exact size tyre on that exact rim and offset but on a 2" lift and its fine, never scrubbed ever.

Im not 100% sure on stock height.. but I seem to think it wouldn't scrub.

If anything the front mudflap, which can be removed or modified anyway.

This will bring the outer face of the tyre just inside of the flare which you will need to cover.

That's a comfort to hear, thanks for that. She'll be getting lifted so I don't think scrubbing is a concern as I plan to put the tyres on post-lift. That, along with the upgraded upper control arms, should prevent the mudflap scrub that often occurs. That's that settled :D

Is this on an SR without a flare on the wheel arch, or an SR5 with the stock flare? I'm still negotiating whether to go with the SR5 flare which I've heard is 10mm smaller than the Utemart flare, or an alternate brand that is slightly larger. Aesthetics are a concern, but of more importance is their tyre compatibility

Hello Kroozer can you let us know offset of your rims
and do you have rubbing issues
obviously you removed mudflaps did you have a choice
are you on 2 inch lift

I am struggling to understand what all the questions are about. If you want 32" tyres you need +10 or 0 offset and a good wheel alignment in conjunction with a 2" lift and no issues. It does not matter if 16, or 17" wheels. outside dia, offset and lift = no rub if you have a good alignment.

With +15 and 8" rim you are definitely legal, +10 not quite but extremely close. You would be stiff to be challenged. Make a drawing for yourself and be confident, most tyre joints have no idea, they just look at the offset and don't consider the width of rim.

Hey mate, rims are 0 offset, tyres were just touching the mudflaps with normal on road driving so took them off, get a little bit of scrub at full compression with steering locked,
Running monster rides matrix front struts set around 2.5 inches
