Mate somewhere in my buil thread is a basic tyre/fuel cost matrix....really basic...if you cant find I'll try and dig out to repost....general outcome was it costs about $1000 more per year to run the bigger rubber.... but thats far outweighed by the coolpoints the lux has with the better stance

Thanks mate. Although I don't want to ignore the cost difference of running 32s, I'm more interested in the performance loss, if any. I love the way my truck pulls up hills on the open road like they're not even there, and I don't want to lose any of that by fitting 1" bigger rubber.

I should clarify too, I'm only taking about going from the stock sr5 31s to 32s, not the relatively big jump in diameter of I had the sr with 29s...

Could anybody with experience going to 32s on an sr5 comment on how much, if any, open road performance loss I could expect? Will I even notice it?

Cheers fellas

Mate I noticed a minor drop in performance...and I really mean hardly noticable, moreso on take off type thing from lights.
I did notice the fuel usage went from 10l per 100km to 12l per 100km...so I lost an average of 100kms per tank (rough numbers) I've never had any issues running the 32's performance wise on or off road

Hey mate I'm running 33/10.5/15 on alloy sr5 rims at first I only had 2 inch strut spacers, which worked no scrubbing had to take front mud flaps off. Now I'm running 3 inch lift in front and 2 in the back and looks and works a treat.u can feel its a bit harder taking off on hills or with a trailer but nothing to stress about.as for fuel not noticing much difference.it doesn't rev hard on the hwy now bit under 2000rpm doing 110ks which I think could save a bit of fuel.all in all run the 32s heaps better off road and looks 100% better then stock

Not sure if this is the right thread to post this question but after searching I couldn't find any others that suited better.

I have a 2013 SR5 with the stock 265/65R17 tyres fitted. As most people would know, a lot of tyre brands don't offer this size in their more aggressive treads, with 265/70R17 often being the smallest size.

My question is regarding the gearing - how much performance loss would you notice by moving from 31" to 32" tyres leaving all else equal (eg diff ratios etc)? I do a heap of driving on the open road and love the way my truck pulls like a train up hills etc, and I don't want to lose that if I fit bigger tyres.

Its only a 3% change in diameter so you'd think the change would be pretty minor, but just after some first hand opinions from some people here...

Thanks fellas!

I replaced my wheels and 265/65/17 tyres with fj cruier wheels that came with 265/70/17 tyres and I can't feel any difference. Fuel consumption hasn't changed at all
I love hybrid cars - means more fuel for me

Sweet, thanks guys! Puts my mind at ease a bit. Really like the look of either the Cooper ST Maxx or new Mickey T ATZ P3, which only come in the 70 profile.

Thanks again :D

Hi Guys
Just purchased a 2014 SR Dual Cab Hilux and getting a 50mm suspension uplift.
It comes with 17 x 6 inch steel rims and 225/70/R17 A/T tyres.( 29 inch overall diam)
My intention is to replace these with 16 X 7 inch steel rims and 265/75/R16 BF Goodrich A/T Tyres ( 32 inch overall diam.) and SR5 flares.

1:Will this size affect performance adversely, noticably or not enough to worry about?
2: Will this size have any issues with srubbing etc at all?
3: I have been told that 16 inch rims may not be possible to fit now as the brake caliper size has changed with the 17 inch wheels? Does any one have any knowledge about this at all? (The current SR has the same suspension etc as the SR5 now)

Hi guys,

Just after some fitment advice, tried searching but everything that comes up is regarding 16 inch wheels. Car is a 2013 sr5, currently has a 2inch lift fitted.

Just wondering if i'd be able to fit a set of sunnies 17 x 8 +0 offset, with a 32inch tyre (265/70/17 i think that's a 32?). would this set up likely scrape anything?

Also how far out roughly would the wheel sit? any pics would be great. i'd like to get them flush with the flares, if not sticking out a smidge.

Thanks

Danny

I have toughdog 2inch and run 265/70/17 with a arb bar without problems, it did rub a little on the bumper before it was removed with the lift.

Hi All,

I am also interested in finding out if I change my 265/65/17 Bridgestone Desert Dualers (fitted to KMC XD Addict 17x9 Rims) to a 285/70/17 tyre in which i have found. I have had a 40mm lift in the front and a Heavy Duty Lift in the rear to match.

Sheers,
Shanoz

That's a 15x8 with 0 offset. It only sticks out about 10mm from the gaurd, nothing really noticable.
Cheers,
Jay

Hi all new to site and searching wheel sizes and come up with this thread. Been toying with my 2013 SR dual cab and have now bit the bullet with tyre size. Have ordered 16x7 Dynamics with +27 offset wrapping them in 238/85/16 A/T just for off road use. My budget is small so nothing fancy but like I said only offroad for these. Because I do huge klms during the week for work I will keep the standard 205/16's which have given me a best of 7.8klms per 100. This includes freeway driving and city. Im not worried about fuel economy but keeping the underbody parts higher out of the dirt. When the're fitted will post pics and give fuel econ figures as I will going away fishing next long weekend. Im sure I wont have any issues scrubbing the wheels on guards but we'll see soon.
Love this site like I love Hilux's

Cheers Brett

Can anyone elaborate more for me if these will fit?!?! The only thing I am unsure of is the offset of the wheel.

Ok, just made a sneaky phone call and apparently these Wheels of mine are a +18 Offset on a 17 x 9 inch rim, so would I get away with a 75 profile or will the 70 profile be my max?!?!?!

You're probably better off asking in a 33" tyre thread, 285/70/17 is approx 32.7 inches, and 275/75/17 is 33.2 inches.

If you want something closer to 32 inch you could look at a 265/70/17. They would be fine with a 2" lift.

What's the most positive offset you could get away with using 32 x 11.5 on 15x8 stock Uca and sway bars kept in
