hi, i'm based in northrn ireland and have just bought a new d4d hilux invincible. i fitted cal offroad bilsteins and 33" mtz with 17" sidebiters. steering is a bit wandery and it shakes a little on bumpy road and follows the road a bit.

need to get the wheel allignment done tomorrow and i'm wondering is there a good allignment setup to make it handle and drive nice again?

what is the best caster and camber settings for the front and what is the different affects in handling between positive and negative caster on the hilux

many thanks

I have got a question aswell and I will probably get blasted about not searching but I don't have Internet. Can only use my iPhone and it's a painful process trying to go through half a million threads. Sorry in advance. I have a diesel auto and am planning on some 33s. Not with the diff ratio I know the standard is 3.9 or 3.7. Regardless I found a wrecked 120 prado. Can I pull off the front and rear diff or just the fronts? Also what are the prado ratios. I'm not to interested in lockers ATM. Have no money. Again sorry in advance.

Cheers

Thanks for everyone's comments.

I have chucked out the old TJM XGS suspension and springs that were sagging at the front.
Ritchie and the lads at Hume Offroad replaced them with Bilsteins and Ridepro HD Coils.
Couldn't be happier with the new handling, thanks fellas! :D

I have decided that my next set of tyres will be Mickey Thompson 265/75/16 MTZs on my existing ROH RTX wheels.

I know these aren't 33s like alot of the guys in this forum run  ,
but still a pretty good option in my opinion and without the need for trimming/new diff ratios, etc.
Maybe one day, when the wallet is a bit more full I will upgrade to 33s.
I always just wanted to be funny. I never really planned to be scary.

Gawry,

I use 32ish, 265/70-17.
No hitting anywhere a lot less other mods and $$$$$
So it's 12.5mm less clearance.... Yeah watever.....
New DENSO Injectors are the go! New genuine parts.

Check your injectors about every 10,000k.
WARNING check oil pickup screen is clear

Im a guy from Norway that just bought a hilux D-cab 2008 - 3,0 D4D.
I can see that you guys got some exsperience whit lifting and putting on bigger wheels.. ;)

Im wondering:

* I have just orderd a 3" lift kit - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0835188153

* How big wheels can i put on whit out cutting away the hole firewall ;) Dont want to cut in this car. 32" maybe? 265/75x16?

* What offset do you use on a standard truck whit flares? Dont want the wheels to go on the outside of the car.

* I have some MT 16x8 rims thats ET20 but i think they will go on the outside.

Need all the help i can get.. Thank you!

Sorry if this has been covered already!! I went to get advice on another set of KO2s today from a fairly large tyre mob. I have 16" at the moment with 4" lift on an 09 model. These guys did the suspension and upper control arms and diff drop too. They've suggested I could go to a 17" wheel and run 185/70/17. They said my clearance would be fine but now I'm wondering about other issues???

Wasn't planning on it but didn't realise I'd need to. I don't know a great deal about these things. I was going to go to 17's to get a more aggressive stance and even move ground clearance. If I stayed with 16s would it be less hassle and could I go a fatter, taller tire?

Do you have 33s/285s now? No need to change to 17s just to get stance amd height.
