Thanks Rod,

So if i went for 8 inch rims, does this mean i could use a +30 offset and not get any rubbing to get a similar result as a 7 inch rim with +20?

I've got what rodw has, 16 x 7 rim, +20 offset wearing 265/75/16 tyres. I have a 2.5 - 3 inch suspension lift and have not trimmed anything. A 7" rim will hold the bead better than a 8 " rim when the tyre is aired down. These rims have served me well while off road. If you decide to use 8" rims then you will need advice off someone that uses them.

I think you will get rubbing on a +30 rim and 8". 7" rim is right for the 265mm wide tyre. If you want to go bigger then you can still run a 255/85 R16 on that rim. The guys running 8" rims are usually out to a 0 offset (which is llegal).

what good is a legal offset wheel if the tyre diamter is illegal....you cant have both...its either legal or not....some might care, other wont......

I'm running 16 x 8 rims with a +25 offset and clad with 265/75/16 mtz. Lift 3 inch. No probs with tyre clearance or rubbing anywhere. ;)

Do any of you think that +6mm offset 16x8 would work well with this tyre size?

I was in tyre power today and the dude said for me to go (max) 265x75x16 (standard SR07 hilux) to prevent rubbing etc etc
as I dont have a lift kit and prob wont get one anytime soon...

For 95% of the time I will be driving on road
He quoted me on Cooper ST and some Mickeys $330 each
Is there any other tyres out there you guys recommend that are better price but look similar to the above?

also chucking them on a 16/7 black rim

Another question... most rims i find down here (france) have different offset values.
I'll be putting in a suspension lift soon and going for the 265/75/16 tyres.
But now for the rims, my choice is to go for 7X16".
Offset i found either +10 or +30 ? What would be the best option?
Most of you guys have the +20... some advice would be welcome.

I've been watching this thread with interest as I am currently looking to upgrade my currnet SR5 wheels. I have had all sorts of feedback from blokes in ARB to Goodyear dealerships to local Tyres and More to the big brand Beaurepairs and Quickfit outlets. I have asked if there would be any issues with srubbing etc which some have replied "no mate you should be right". The ARB guy said they are way too big and I should look at something for the original rim.

I would be keen to hear from you blokes as to what exactly what else would need to be altered. I take it the mud flap could be removed or pinned back, but if your not going off road and putting the suspension under some serious stress then are they really going to scrub that bad and at what points will they touch, anything else I'm not aware of. I am looking at putting a set of KM2's on the 16' prado copy with +20 offset along with an EFS 2'' lift. Alternatively a set of Duratrac's. :?

Don't listen to the critics.. A 2 inch lift and the rims your talkin bout you won't have a drama.. Lads on here are running 265's with all sorts of offsets, me personally have -5 offset rims and all I have done o remove the front mudflaps.. Hope that clears a few things for you

This is what I mean, everyone seems to be different and I guess some of the feedback is coming from blokes who's opinions are coming from all sorts of different situations. Some flog the absolute guts out of their rigs and have certain issues where some just do the norm flex their hilux's and put them to the test and don't have any issues.

Cheers for the feedback :)

danmcccc has a set of 285x75x16 (33) tyres on +20 rims and does real extreme 4wding and his only scrubs under compression. i personally have 15x8 0 offset rims with 32x11.5R15 tyres on which is the same diameter as a 265x75x16 but mine are a little wider than a 265 and dont have any problems with scrubing. i have removed the mud flaps though.

I've got 265x75x16 tyres with advanti trax rims that were on the car when i got it, I think they are 8" dia and +16 offset not sure on this though. No scrubbing at all and haven't needed to remove the mudflaps or pin them pack at all. Even under full compression I haven't seen any signs of scrubbing.

Just got a decent wheel alighnment when I got the wheels with as much forward caster as possible while still whin spec.

Crew,

2007 Dual Cab SR Hilux 4x4

I'm also watching this thread as I have oredered 16 x 8 M-Thomson classic II for my 07 lux, I think they are the land cruiser rim and the offset is +30 i think. Looking at the 4 rib ATZ MT tyres also in 265/75/R16. Have modified the flares and mudflaps with the expectaion these mods would be needed. I'm also looking at a suspension upgrade can you guys point me in the right direction.

I have a Alluminium canopy that with the tray I'd expect would weight around 150kg-200kg permanent weight on the rear and a ARB steel bar with a custom 5mm alloy bash plate on the front.

I dont want a stiff ride as I do alot of road km's but want something that is capable of giving me maybe 2" lift and able to handle a few hundred kg's of camping gear in the canopy whist also towing my Dingi pretty loaded also.

I understand there is always a comprimise but a few thoughts from you guys would be appreciated.

Currently ARB have quoted OME, everything replaced and fitted around the $2300 which seems steep but maybe thats just the standard.
