just a correction to the previously quoted width of a standard SR5 rim...

they're 17x7.5 and the standard tyre is a 265/65/17

Sorry if this has been covered guys, but what's the biggest tyre I can put on a 2011 Sr5 rim? The standard size is 265/65/17 and I have a 1 and 3/4 inch lift on the front.
Cheers

Widest you could get on there is a 275 a 285 would need an 8" rim.

Maxxis, Mickey T, Cooper all do a 275/70x17 which is about a 32.5" tyre. Will fit with your almost 2" lift, may have to remove the mud flaps.

Mate have a read of this thread

The last page and the second last post by max will help you out with the -12 offset rims you have.

It will work, you will just have the trim and cut the flare, pinch weld etc, etc

Hey. I had the 17x8's with 0 offset fitted with 265/65/17 tyres. There's heaps of clearance from control arms etc. I am getting a tiny bit of scrubbing on the front bumper when the wheels are close to full lock though. This shouldn't be an issue when I fit a front bar.

Any offset you like really... The more negative you go the further out you push your tyres though. Also keep the fulcrum length of the axle and tyre in mind as you turn from lock to lock.
Most people running 265/70/17 use standard off set rims. Pretty sure mine are +30 (Prado copies) no need to remove mud flaps with this offset.

So would the 17x9 rim zero offset with a 265/70r17 tyre on them work ? And not stick out the guards much ?

I put FJ rims with 265/70r17 tyres on and they were just in the guards also rubbed on the mud flaps slightly with stock suspension.
I've since put 285/70/17 on them and I'm pretty sure they are -10 offset and 7.5inches wide. No problem fitting the 285 to this rim and doesn't appear to balloon excessively.

Hi guys, I have a 2007 sr5 4.0 v6.
I have a 3" lift, wanting to run a 17x9 rim in +18 with 285/70/17 bfg.
Will this work?

Yes it should work with some work, remove the mud flap, im unsure if it will rub on the fire wall, may rub on the sway bar? Any rubbing should be minor. Being +18 sway bar would be the main issue I think.

If you have an ARB bar just check the splash guards that it doesn't touch when turning.

Have a read of the fitting 33 inch tyres thread, it should help alot

Enric,

a 17x8 rim on the same offset would "just" fit a 285/70x17 tyre.

Add an extra inch to the overall width means the tyre will be a further 12mm wider on the inside which Im pretty sure will give you issues on the Factory Uppper Control arm on full steering lock aswell as the swaybar. It would equate to running +30 offset (clearancwise) which with that tyre wont work.

Some people running this tyre size on 17x8 +20 rims are rubbing on the actual chassis itself at the rear on full lock and some suspension compression.

In my opinion.....try and find a tyre one size smaller.

Around 32/10.5x17 or thereabouts.

That will clear things and make your wheels useable.

Thanks for the reply's.
So would a +12 fit the 285/70/17 quite easily?
