Can of worms, have a read of the tyre review thread. As with all tyres you will get the lovers and the haters

Pretty sure Monaz was running Coopers SST...STT? ( their muddies) then swapped to BFG KM2 and will never go back to the Coopers.

My Cousin, who manages a Beaurepairs in SA, said that Coopers wouldn't warranty a few cases of sidewall cracking (don't know how many) now he refuses to stock them.

I was online and Tempe Tyres seem to have good price on 16" alloy wheels at 150 each, has anyone bought the wheels I am concerned that they made not be tough enough for off road use. I have an ome 2" lift, they are out of stock with 16x7 +20 offset which would match my Goldstream off road van, would the 16x8 be a problem with clearance etc.

Be careful, a lot of the cheapies are not suitable for offroad abuse check to see if they have a load rating on them too to give some indication of quality

There are load ratings for tyres but how do you get a load rating for a wheel? I suspect buying wheels such as CSA ROH have better standing in the industry. Interested in best deals people here have had with reputable alloy wheels purchased in Sydney or online deals

The rims will have a load rating stamped on the inside of them. (Mine for instance have 1250kg max on them )

There are plenty of rim suppliers that are quality at a reasonable price, I would have a chat to some of the bigger chain dealers first to see what is available

I have used tempe before and was happy with the price of the tyres and their service, and I wanted to go there again. Pricing around again the other day I deliberately left them to last expecting to get the best deal. They were surprisingly very unhelpful and uninterested in doing business. I asked "If I order them, how long will they take?" He said "A week a month I don't know." This was in contrast to the previous polite people I have dealt with there, but it has now left me with the feeling that I would not want to bother them again. So I spent nearly a grand at Bridgestone at Taren Point and was happy with them. I went in late on Saturday and they were happy to fit the tyres after their finishing time even when I said that I was happy to come back on Monday. I rang Taleb Tyres (another cheap tyre importer)too, they are going to ring me back with a price, still waiting.

Tempe was best online price for me... then asked local dealer to price-match... K-mart auto Bendigo beat their price! And had them in stock next day. :D
Cheers Gipsy :D although I'm sure somebody will challenge that  even Einstein wasn't certain of his theories.

After being impressed with Tempe tyres in the past and knowing they are always just about the cheapest I called in the other day, quickly negotiated a price for 6 new km2's and a wheel alignment, I bought a crap coffee and sat down....and waited and waited..... 2.5 hrs later car ready and I drive home in Sydney traffic.

I then pulled the two spares out of my tub and put one in the shed, grabbed the other one and climbed under the tub to put it back up, this is when I noticed it is definitely not new, quite a bit of uneven wear, all nobbly buts missing and fresh blue crayon marking different areas of the tyre.

8am the next morning I am back arguing that this tyre is not new, I am repeatedly told it definitely is new and sometimes they just come like that, after about 30mins they decide to change it, 1.5hrs later it's done, I leave and I'm never going back.

I had a great experience involving tempe tyres recently. I rang them for a quote on 265/70/16 KO2's $285 each, sweet. So I then rang my local Jax and asked if they would match it, no problem they said. So I got the tempe price without the head ache and fuel driving there.

Cheers,

Chris.
