The Real 2016 Hilux Thread

Postby Richard on Fri, 02 Oct 2015 10:45 +0000

Had a close look today at Pacific Toyota here in Cairns - on the plus side I like the way they look "chunky" On the down side I'm not real keen on the nose nor the very plain looking dash layout.

The nose is probably going to look a hell of a lot better once the after market manufacturers start producing bull bars to suit.

After a quick ring around yesterday on average I think I'm looking at anywhere up to 3 months before all the aftermarket gear is going to be available to me.

Test drive the SR5 Auto in the morning - Since shifting to Cairns from Nhulunbuy this constant gear shifting in my 2013 is getting really annoying or maybe it's getting blown away at the lights by auto's that shits me. :)

As a side question, anyone have any idea on the 18" rim offset?

Good morning to all
It's two months before we can see or buy a new Hilux in Argentina.
The message is for those who have led a new 2016 Hilux double cabin and be compared with the previous Hilux.
Consult the differences are noticeable:
1 . Interior cabin space. Height, width and depth for corpulent passengers. The roof four cm. lower?
2. Driving Behavior: softness or hardness, roll and damping.
3. Motor 2.8 vs 3.0 above.
4. Consumption route and city.
5. Driving, steering response.
6. Stability and security on the road.
7. Brakes capacity
8. Operation manual gearbox
9. Quality plastics.
10. Quality body.
Other opinions are highly appreciated
:)
Thank you

Test drove a manual dual cab today and was quite impressed until I sat in the back seat. I am 6ft and in the back seat of my 2014 SR5 there is 2 inches of space above my head, in the New Hilux My head is HARD against the hood lining to the point where I can't even sit up straight, is this a step backwards?

The old man is buying 2 SR5's soon for work on the farm, so we should be able to give them a good bashing out here in western nsw, to south western nsw, and even goulburn and give a good report back on how well they hold up across a variance of terrain, my guess is the shit out west, high speed work will sort it out quick smart if there are any build issues!

What do people in Australia think about the bend over price?
After all, it's a ute.
What's wrong with the other thread?
Dealerships in Australia, as a general comment, seem to be pretty arrogant about the new Hilux, and it's price.
Time tells all.

Glad I'm not the only one who noticed less room in the rear, as well as with the seats folded up. It looks like I will not be able to fit my cf 50 weaco in there now. Overall I am impressed but I am happy to stick to my 2010 my 11 for now.

I like the little headrest thingy in the extra cab. The kidlets regularly bang their heads on the rear window when we're off road. The pissy little hooks on the back of the front seats seems pointless :? Who is going to hang anything off that... And if you put seat covers on then its totally useless. I wonder how much development went into designing that

I just test drove one this morning and have ordered one to replace my 2014 model. The new one is an absolute joy to drive and to me feels more car like. The new diesel is very quiet and the throttle response is excellent, coupled to the new 6 speed auto feels more like a petrol engine. The cabin is more quiet on the road while the rear was a little harsh with nothing in it. Some of the things I liked was the padded arm rests on the doors, folding mirrors, auto windows on all doors, guide lines on the rear camera and the info display on the instrument cluster is really nice. I don't mind the plastic side steps as I think they will be easier to keep clean than the old alloy type and about as strong. Mine is coming with the new Toyota/EGR canopy which now has central locking. There is still room under the bonnet for a second battery and they now offer a Toyota/Redarc dual battery kit for it.

Test drove an SR5 auto with the leather/ electric seats this morning, brought it home so we we were driving a familiar route and have to say i was impressed. ride is still bumpy but a lot more comfy. only thing i'm not happy about is the lack of rear air con vents, what happened there? Pretty sure the Thai vehicles have rear air con vents.
Brakes are a huge improvement, id say they are better than my '13 work ranger.
Shoved my arm behind the back seat and it felt pretty promising that the water bag will fit in there as well.
Definitely good to see the accessory fuse box and a spot for second battery in the engine bay too.
When i had a look underneath the rear of it though i did notice the R/H/R shock was leaking, it was damp right down to the lower shock mount, @390km!
