2inch Dobinson struts and springs. No more scrub!

Are you happy with how dobinsons springs perform? Is it rougher? What weight rear springs did you go? I'm thinking of going the same.

Only driven it for about 50km. Doesn't handle any differently to factory. Which I'm happy about. 12kg springs I believe. Unsure whether this is good or bad.

16" steelies (or alloys) will be the way to go when going proper offroad. And they look a bit more proportional to the whole car than 18", which start getting the rims quite close to the ground after airing down for a bit of cross-country action.

Not sure you would fit 16" over the front brakes- the're big huars!!

I had the 10k service on my ute and the binding problem with the spline in the tail shaft has surfaced. While they didn't have time to fix it, it had to go back next week to fix.
Does the fix sort out the problem?

Are they the same size brakes as the VSC upgraded Hiluxes from the previous model? If so, GU patrol steelies will fit, but I don't know of any others that would.

Might be the camera angle but does the front bumper/wheel arch scrub with 1/4 lock on moderate or decent off road terrain?

I trimmed the bumper so it doesn't rub but they sure fit alot easier than the n70's. Its only a 2inch lift for now. And Richard all that's happening just need to find time ahah

But why would you want an auto? Genuine question. Am I the only one who preferes a manual?

I reckon a lot of people want auto these days especially where towing is concerned, you're basically taking a potential smoked clutch out of the equation. Plus auto trannies have really come a long way. Each to their own I suppose.

I own a manual myself and am very happy with it, but I can definitely see the appeal of an auto from time to time.

In saying all this, how does the manual in the new one compare to the manual in the previous models? Mine is a 2015(MY14) and I'm stoked with it apart from the fact that I reckon 1st seems to be geared too tall. It's fine for stock trim, but I reckon you'd have to be careful once you chucked on some 33's and started towing stuff.

More torque from an auto box
Easier to low or high range over rugged terrain and reverse with trailer without burning clutch or stalling
Continuous power thru drive train in sand shifting gears - less likely to loose momentum and bog down
Seen the 'how many times has your clutch died' thread?...(yes - n70) lets hope the n80 clutch is better
Manuals still have their place but auto boxes have come a long way since inception
