X 2.
I've been told the toyota oil is specified as low ash grade due to the DPF

Changed every 10,000Kms + filter. no issues so far, 290,000Kms. Just chase the specials. These are all good oils and meet all SAE standards for our engines. From past experience with other engines I would NEVER put full synthetic oil near my engine or ANY road engine I owned.

well that's interesting, although i have bugger all mechanical knowledge.. i was just talking to a friend who is a mechanic and he suggested i only use full synthetic oil. i had just picked up the car from toyota the day before from its 10000k service and i remembered that the service lady pointed out that they used synthetic oil.
apparently the reason behind it is the synthetic oil doesn't cause as much build up (of gunk) in relation to EGR
