The little plastic retainer studs can be removed by making a tool from a caulking gun nozzle, which you push over the pointy end to compress the barbs. Just cut the nozzle down til it's a tight fit.
As already mentioned, remove the rear lights and disconnect the loom close to the lights.
Removing the tailgate takes a lot of weight out, (only 2 hinge bolts and a wiring plug) but 4 blokes is still good as it's an awkward shape to lift.
The filler flap cable is held in by a plastic nut which locks like a light bulb bayonet fitting, twist it from underneath the wheel arch. You have to leave the filler cap off, so shove a piece of rag in there to keep dirt out.
The filler neck has a plastic grommet which can be twisted/pushed down towards the tank to release it from the rubber grommet which stays with the tub. Grab it from underneath to twist it. and pull at same time.
Don't forget to disconnect any towbar wiring.

Ive undone all 6 bolts, disconnected all electrics, disconnected fuel filler flap cable release.....
so now when I lift the tub off will the fuel filler part just stay there and the rubber grommet just pops off over the filler with the tub? I will remove fuel cap first of course...

anyone?

Don't want to start a new thread and came across this one while searching.
Does anyone know if a 2011 4x4 SR Dual Cab Tub will fit a 2007 dual cab. The taillights, tub etc look exactly the same but need to know if I can just bolt it on.

All bolts and screws are from below or in the wheelarch. You can disconnect all the wiring from underneath as well. There is no need to remove your drawers, or the cupboards you have inside the tub. But you need to factor that in to the lifting method.

Hey everyone.

I'm changing from a tub to a tray on my 2007 Toyota Hilux V6 Dual Cab. A few questions, will a older type Hilux dual cab tray fit straight on, or will there be some adjusting. And does Repco or Supercheap sell off market lockable filler caps.

You may have to modify/move/fabricate the cross bearers to line up with chassis mounting points.

I put a triple M tray on mine which came off an early 90's hilux. Removed all the old brackets, bought some suitable RHS and made my own bearers. Easy job using drill and bolts. Easier if you have a welder.

Just wondering if someone could help me regarding the tub removal. I recently took mine off to treat the underside for rust and weld up a few holes and now it's back on think I may have mixed something up.

I had a few friends round tonight that helped me set it back on but it seems to be sitting a little high. There are two rubber pads on each side where the tub rests on the chassis (pictured). Before they were sitting on the chassis but now there is a 3-4mm gap.

I paid careful attention to which bolts went where but had to get new ones from toyota as mine were really rusty.

Could someone with a dual cab mk6 hilux tell me which washers/ bushes go where because I think I may have put them in the wrong place. From memory the rear 4 used the round rubber bush between the bolt/ washer and the chassis then straight in the tub from the bottom. The tub was in direct contact with the chassis. The front two went in from above and a thinner square pad sat between the chassis and the tub. Is this correct or do the square pads go elsewhere?

Apologies for the confusion, I thought I had it right but may be making a mistake. Appreciate any help or photos of the correct way. Michael.

Im planning to convert my Dc 13 sr5 tub, to a tray for work.
Who's done this? Did you have any dramas or pointers for doing this?

I'm an apprentice so gonna try and have it all ready to go so the old man and I can do it over a long weekend or Christmas shut down.

Have already picked up a 1600x1800 steel tray, what sizes have people managed to get safely on a dual cab, obviously the more space for Toolboxes and what not the better.
