How does this work?

Is there a risk of locking your keys in the car.

are you refering to when you lock your lux with remote and then unlock it will relock itself after 30 or so seconds

it will only relock if you dont open a door
if you open a door you will need to lock with remote

Hope this helps

Yep as above

EXCEPT in the following 2 cases...
You get an alarm that winds your windows up when you lock with the remote. :P

Case 1 : Your out bush,, pull up and take your keys, lock the car ( windows start to wind up) then you think ...Idiot im in the bush and you unlock car and throw the keys on the seat and walk away (not opening door)...You guessed it 30 second later up go the windows and your stuffed.. Lucky for phone reception..

Case 2 : You leave your keys on the drivers floor for added security.... hours later you reach in when its dark and in searching for the keys you press the lock button. The doors lock and suddenly you are being squashed be the windows going up  you jump out refleckting on the near death experiance only you havent got the keys with you. so you jam a piece of wood in the windows stopping it with 3 inches to go. just enough to use a bit of wire to recover keys... :o

i get petrol and then walk in to pay (with keys in my pocket), it then locks itself. even if someone else is in the car and i left my door open?

maybe it is set off when the key goes a certain distance from the car?

MMM That is wierd,

I Can't lock ( or set the alarm) when any door is open either.
If you have an alarm some do have a setting to auto lock.
If its new ask a dealer ?
Does you interior light work correctly ?
Put out the little door button that operates the light and check the plug/wire is attached.

Stock std car's shouldn't lock auto.... there is a reason ..
Tell us what you know and have a fiddle and we will narrow it down and hopefully fix this

That aint good

I think I can guess what is happening now, when I put the petrol cap back ive accidentally hit the lock button.

Think that is the case.

Dont mean to try revive an old thread, but i have the same issue with my 2006 sr dual cab. Or randomly locks whenever it feels like it. I can unlock the car put the keys in the ignition and turn it on, turn it off and walk away and it locks after 20-30 sec. But not every time. I always leave my window down at work so i dont lock my keys in it and when i come back sometimes its locked, others it isnt. Weird.

Maybe the door switch (interior light) is rotten
