Yeah that's the go. Actually secretly ever since I was a kid I've loved that "American movie style" alarm locking noise. Lol you guys know the one.

What I want to do is to find a way to conect the horn to the lock/unlock system so when I lock and unlock my truck I can have a sound confirmation. It is very anoying, specially in bright sunlight and noisy streets that I need to look at the lights to see the truck is locked. All I said it would be nice to "hear" the confirmation that the doors have been locked, as a lot of Ford and Volkswagen vehicles do.

I know this might be as easy as finding the wire that sends the signal to the lights and hook a relay to the horn, so if someone could at least tell me where to look I could post some pictures and even diagrams of what I did.

Thanks in advance!

Excuse my ignorance, but isnt this a programming problem? With my South African built Hilux, there is a proccess in the owners manual to activate it (door open, key in twice within 10 seconds, close door, curse loundly while pointing north etc etc etc...).

The interesting question is if it has been deleted from the vehicle programming, or whether the relevant pages have been deleted out of your owners manual.

If you want the process to activate / deactive the audible confirmation so you can test it let me know by post or message.

Regards

Paul

Oh hell yes. If you could take a photo or scan the page and post it that would be awesome. Please post us the info

Hello all.

More ignorance here. How would one go about posting a .PDF document I made of the relevant pages of the owners manual?

Umm not sure about that on here. The easiest way I could see is take a screen shot and paste in paint save as a jpeg and upload the image?

SR5`s have the connector but no horn. also missing the wiring in the fuse box. look at the 7.5a fuse marked "siren" in the fuse box.

Could be worth a try wiring it in if the overseas hilux uses a generic siren/plug?

Well,

Correct me if i'm wrong.... but your indicators flash when the you lock the car right.

So.....insert a diode in line with original horn feed and attach another 12v feed driven to the horn by a relay that is energised by the indicators (use a relay so you don't load the indicator circuit to much)

now to stop it from going off when you are driving and using your indicators use another relay (in line with first relay power feed) that is setup as normally closed, that is switched from accessories. (goes open when car is running and doesn't allow power through)

Ok ok ok.... so I have had a few beers now and not really thinking straight.... but this kinda idea will work....just needs some tweaking... maybe you could use the handbrake on/off light circuit to change the relay state...... lets face it... if you are broken down and need your hazard lights on and the handbrake was the control circuit you would have to sit there with it off.... but it doesn't actually hold the car anyway... so might aswell make use of it's switch/control circuit.

please ask me another day to explain this if it doesn't make sense now...... :D

After having the beep in the kluger I do miss it in the Hilux. However I've learnt to just look to see if the indicators flash as they won't flash if there's a door ajar or it doesn't lock.

what about cutting in to the feed to the central locking slave driver in the drivers door.

so when u lock or unlock the truck the power goes to the centeral locking motor in the door, locking or un locking the door.
so if u were to cut in to the remote signal wire that tells the central locking motor to work will then send a short power signal to the horn causing it to beep. (once u have run the wire to make it work)

you would just need to run the wire from the drivers door central locking motor back in to the cab then under the dash through the fire wall the off to the horn.
