Horn sound with lock/unlock

Horn sound with lock/unlock

Postby LuiJoTD on Tue, 15 Mar 2011 10:44 +0000

I don't know about the trucks you guys have, mine was made in Argentina, so maybe it doesn't apply for all of us, but I hope it does so I can have some help with this.

What I want to do is to find a way to conect the horn to the lock/unlock system so when I lock and unlock my truck I can have a sound confirmation. It is very anoying, specially in bright sunlight and noisy streets that I need to look at the lights to see the truck is locked. All I said it would be nice to "hear" the confirmation that the doors have been locked, as a lot of Ford and Volkswagen vehicles do.

I know this might be as easy as finding the wire that sends the signal to the lights and hook a relay to the horn, so if someone could at least tell me where to look I could post some pictures and even diagrams of what I did.

Thanks in advance!

Im no genius with this stuff but i wouldnt imagine it being too hard! surely you could run power from your indicatior lights to the horn via a relay?

And have the horn come on each time you turn left?
:D

mwahhahaaa LOL

'this should work i think' < LOL heard that before
i dont have a wiring diagram so easiest place to find the correct cables will be from the drivers door loom to find the
master actuator cables, splice into them add 12volt buzzer through diode providing there's enough a/ current available to drive buzzer & b/ you can get a loud enough buzzer it shud work, or if you want to use carhorn then use a relay switched from master actuator cables

Hi All.

Excuse my ignorance, but isnt this a programming problem? With my South African built Hilux, there is a proccess in the owners manual to activate it (door open, key in twice within 10 seconds, close door, curse loundly while pointing north etc etc etc...).

The interesting question is if it has been deleted from the vehicle programming, or whether the relevant pages have been deleted out of your owners manual.

If you want the process to activate / deactive the audible confirmation so you can test it let me know by post or message.

Regards

Paul

Oh hell yes. If you could take a photo or scan the page and post it that would be awesome. Just about every other Toyota/lexus make a nice Toyota beep when locking and unlocking. My kluger is good for it. Let's me know when the wife is home lol so I can look like I'm cleaning or something other then playing Xbox.
Please post us the info

I've had a look at the Hilux (well Vigo, essentially the same) service manual wiring diagrams and under the door lock system and horn system they are separate from each other - unless there is an unused pin from the body module that isn't listed on the wiring diagrams (possible if it was a removed feature, no point confusing the techs who work on the car) I don't see how it can be a programming only option.

However it wouldn't surprise me if there was an output that pulsed when the doors were locked or unlocked (via the remote) that could be easily tied into the car's horn.

Forget the horn that's wak. Most of the toyotas have a totally different beeper for locking and that. But if it's not on the wiring diagram then idk

Horn sound with lock/unlock

I have an Argentine Hilux as well and it came factory with a little security horn on the passenger side of the engine bay. I disconnected mine because it annoys me. Also I didn't want to attract attention when on busy streets.

Lol. I dream of my hilux making the Toyota beep when I lock it. It's kinda weird it doesn't cause just about every other toyota does it.
