It'll be fine as long as its put into the 120 KW version of the series and not the later 127kw models.

bjk16, Yours is a 127 kw version so maybe Quinny could elaborate. I guess if you have it now, you might as well give it a go anyway.

they are only designed for the earlier 120kw model and stopped any research after this motor was released. I could not get any feedback from them re the result of ataching it to the 127 kw version so opted for a diferent chip.

It may work okay but I do know there are changes to both ecu and injectors between the two versions. (The 127 being fully euro 4 compliant.)

On the 120kw motor the dtronics was a great chip.... and personnally I prefer the 120kw motor also.

to sound like a complete novice what determines the 120kw to the 127 kw are there different engine model numbers on the compliance plates mine is the 1kd- ftv motor? when i bought the chip it had written 05 to current model. both my old man and i bought one, he has a 100 series cruiser. it made the world of diffence to his even before boost you can notice the differnce but i have been iffy about mine expecting more out of it.

From about August 2006, the Hilux was rejigged to comply with Euro emissions standards and as a result it got an extra 7 kW. Most chip manufacturers have a different fuel mapping for the 120 kW engine. The VMN chip I sell is developed in Europe and it does not work on the 120 kW engine as it was never sold in Europe. A couple of members tried and I gave them a refund due to surging under load. You can get it here:
