Bit of a thread bump
Been thinking of upping the boost in my 05 D4D Hilux by doing a wiring mod to the MAP sensor. My understanding is by tricking the MAP sensor into reading lower than actual the computer will up the boost until it sees the desired boost level from the MAP sensor.
I know therefore I'll be running slightly leaner as at a higher boost level the ECU won't be properly fueling it however if we're only talking upto 2-3 psi it should still be enough for a gain?
I'm going to assume the MAP sensor is a simple variable resistance type of sensor, and that ECU translate a voltage = boost level. Hence a simple resistor SHOULD dull the MAP sensor output enough that the ECU will see a lower boost than actual. Using both a boost guage and techstream I should be able to find out what resistor does what to aim for a 2-3 psi increase overall.
Thoughts?
