Brake Duct

Has anyone considered fitting brake ducts to the back of the dust shield on the front brakes? I was under the car yesterday greasing the uni joints and I spotted this as an option. The thought of a little bonnet scoop style duct spot-welded to the back of the dust shield came to mind. Disclaimer I didn't check clearances at full lock

The obvious thing that springs to mind is the potential disadvantage of crap(mud,dirt,sand) being directed to the centre of the disk.

I can see this as being a benefit to a road car, maybe not so much for a 80% offroad car but i guess the road is where the brakes cop the most by towing, down hill at speed ect...

Any input would be great
