Looking at doing this mod with a cheap turbo timer i have left over from a previous car.
Checking if i have it worked out
the timer has 3 wires red yellow and black
so if i connect red to white red Battery +
yellow to red blue ignition +
black to earth

do i cut the red blue or join into it??

If i don't cut it will it cause other items to be powered while it is timing out.

Thanks
Dave

For my 2 cents: ozsurfer's method of using the key in ignition switch to enable power with key in the ignition is the best (safer, easy and cheap). Having to turn the key on to full ignition to work a window just annoys the hell out of me...

Cheers!

With kids I prefer having them powered whenever my rig is unlocked. When they get big enough to put their own windows down is great to be able to get them to put them up when we've stopped somewhere and I'm already out. Did mine 2 years ago, never had a problem and is one of my favorite mods.

Nice work. Very handy mod.

Is there a dummies guide with pictures on how to do the ozsurfer mod somewhere?

There use to be photos on the first page from memory
Looks like they've gone
Maybe someone who has done the mod could repost some

This relay, 12v delay on or off, could be the easy answer. But I cant find the part number or listing

I liked Paulba's post about a DIY assembled window timer
here: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=5044&start=62

and have put it together using the components mentioned but It doesn't work for me.
I have tripple x triple checked to make sure it's been assembled correctly according to the schematic

Is there anyone who can verify if the schematics are correct?

Thanks

I'm still interested and is still unsolved.
Anyone with the knowledge?
Does the schematic look correct?

Just had a quick look at the diagram. It was posted before my time, however it looks like it should work in theory, but the way it is set up, I'm unsure how long the individual components might last. There are plenty of other "Timer" switching circuits available that would be more robust. If you're buying your components at Jaycar (or most other electronic components stores) they should be able to help you get the right one for the job you're doing.

Thanks Rob for that, Much appreciated.

I am unable to fathom out why my construction doesn't work
and am now leaning toward a pressure button on/off of power supply
to activate window switch for any window unless the window lock is in use.

I just have to work out the wiring circuit.

I just used a relay with a 5 minute delay timer.
