Did you check the fuse next to the relay
25 amp i think from memory for power window module

Drew

p.s
havent done mod yet but had it apart on the weekend trying to figure a better solution to just slapping a wire in the relay hole because of wire coming out could cause a short or fire as you have experienced already

I've done the mod. I pulled the drivers door control panel apart and painted the LED black with a nikko so the button is no longer lit. I thought that maybe someone might see it lit and realize there was power to the windows all the time. A stretch I know but it wasn't hard to fix.

Hey DLUXV6,
For the tyme i had it done it was great, I would strongly suggest using a fused wire but, As i will once i sort it out again. As posted earlyer cuttin wire at back of fuse box an solder joining them there, but that does make it harder to revert back to standard if need be. hope i can sort it out with 'batmans' wiring diagrams
cheers chadolux

No worries Chad - just glad you got your issues sorted.

The EWD's are great, they helped me heaps when setting up my dual battery system and also when doing the low range 2wd mod.

Just did this mod was very quick and easy. If you didn't want to use wire, because a few guys have had it fall out, you could just brake off the two pins that you no longer need on the relay and than stick the relay back in Of course this relay would be no good if you wanted to convert it back. I didn't do this but i can't see any problem with it, Can you?

Yes, legends. I will be onto this tomorrow. It would appear, after hearing from guys with Commodores and havig owning Falcons before the Hilux (and Subarus), that Australian engineers put good features before reliability. Toyota engineers seemed to have stopped any R&D after they made their cars reliable. Much as I hate havind to put the window up before getting the keys out of the car, it is better than losing money as the Ford sits at the dealership getting "repaired" all the time. Hopefully soon I can have both. Once I have worked out a simple time system I will let you all know.

I have done the basic bridging wire mod and now have no internal interior light. Haven't checked the light yet but guess they must be related. Has anybody else experienced this?

You can replace the power window relay with a TDR (Time Delay Relay)
http://www.wolstentech.com/products/timedelayrelay/timedelayrelay.php

I personally have not tried this yet, but i am going to order one soon to attempt it.
Once done ill post up a DIY, unless someone beats me to it.

Just done this mod, used a 4 pin normally closed relay with 9.5mm 30 and 87 pins, just broke off 85 and 86 pins. You could use a normally open relay with the large 30 and 87 pins and jamb the contacts closed and snap off the other pins.

Yep great find, I looked for a while for something like this after finding this thread. I'm grabbing one too. Just emailed to ask whether the positive switching model is required or just the standard TDR. I think it will be the standard one....

It's a good solution but it peavs me that we have to spend all this time and money to fix something so simple that should have been done at the factory. My Commodor had this as standard......

Guys, this maybe the solution.
Redarc TIM06

http://redarc.com.au/products-and-servi ... tion-timer

Ofcourse "we" would need to make a loom btw the TDR (time Delay Relay) and where it fits/plugs.

If possible, I'll try to investigate. Unless our other inhouse Auto-Elecs ( olcoolone & bansheebuzz ) can invesitage on my behalf?...

Too bad about the price. Most likely just paying for the brand.
