I've made a few now. Just used the gasket as a template.

Just the standard exhaust.

EGR valve bypass 2009 hilux sr5

Hey guys who out there has bypassed the egr valve on the earlier hilux 2009 model sr5? What is involved? Have recently removed the intake manafold and acid bathed it to remove all the carbon build up inside and don't really want the same issue again plus expense...and soot blowing out the tail pipe.

Hey guys I have bought an egr off chip from chip tune.
Supposedly stops the egr from operating but still allows operation of egr for excess boost dump.
Has any one else used one of these chips?
Does it actually allow excess boost to be dumped as claimed or is it simply fooling the sensors into keeping the valves shut constantly with no fault codes?
I had it in for a short trip and blew a vac hose off so I've taken it out for now.
Will plug it back in later and see how it goes as I also installed a dominator 1 chip at the same time and not sure if it was just the extra boost that made the hose come off.
Any comments welcome
Cheers

what vac hose did it blow off? also how do you find the dominator 1 chip many great gains?

It was the hose from the bottom of the map sensor, fixed it today and tested the car with no chip then chip tune 5 straight out of the box you can feel the difference, pulls harder then I added the egr stop chip and turbo spools a bit earlier I think
Still have to fit the egt monitor/controller and will most likely add the dominator 2 later on to make a bit more power.

Greg, where did you get the dominator chip and how much? Does it have the harness to connect the egt probe? Is it possible that this is the now defunct chip it module?

Look up chiptuning they also have dominator 3 coming soon yeah it has the egt controller and probe.
They have them atm for $799 for the chip + $300 for the egt harness and probe.
I believe they are the chip it stuff.

I have the chip it module (latest before the collapse) and I think the dominator is the next gen. If so mine works fine and the best next step is 3" exhaust to drop the temp :D 5is the box tune for lux and I would be careful to increase from there.

I have tried tune 6... Every thing seems fine, not much difference to 5... I have dialled back to five now though as the extra torque has bought on a lil clutch slip in 4th
I already have the 3" exhaust.
Could be my foot but economy is not looking good lol
Will do a full tank with the egr chip in and then a full with out the egr off chip and see if there's any difference

Chip improved my economy slightly but I am a grandpa and drive like one
I know there is a temptation to use the power but I resist (most of the time) :D

Hi guys, new to this forum. Have been reading through all the EGR blocking stuff on this thread but struggling to find some info as to whether blocking my 05/2006 model is the go or not as it doesn't have a cooler just the pipe straight down to the block. Whats the go with this model??
Any help/links or direction appreciated.
Cheers.

Should be able to fully block it off mate. Seems only the later one's with the cooler need a 7mm hole.

Yeah ok then, that won't worry the turbo or does that not go through the egr on the 06 model?

Roughly how long does it take to do this mod? I'm very tempted but i don't want to start it one night after work then still be going at it hours later. I see there is a lot to remove to get access and i imagine its something you can't rush as everything will need to go back where it came etc.
Maybe a rainy sunday job?

Bout an hour for a first timer maybe?! Smb444 only effect one the turbo is a litte more gas for to feed off equals quicker spool up.
