I have had a hema navigator for about 3mths now and am on my 3rd 12v power supply. The plug in the end keeps geting loose and breaks the positive wire off it. My first one when i bout it didnt even last 400km into a 2000km+ trip. The others lasted a bit longer but not much. I know shane308 has had the same trouble. We both went to dick smiths and bought new 12v plugs. Shanes didnt work, mine did at first but then the light started flashing the same as what happend to shane.
Ended up making one out of the 2. Soldered the wire and plug from the motorola charger into the circuit board from the hema charger and all works fine.
I should also add that appart from this issue i have been impressed with the rest of the unit.

Yeh mate the motorola is straight it dosent have the right angle like the stock one, but it works. Was easy to do just touch the soldering iron to the solder and pull the wire out. The touch the solder again and push the new wire thru

Hard to see from the pics Drew, but is that just a USB plug on the end of the wire?

Hey rod i cant remember what the proper name for the plug is, its similar to a usb but its steped and only about 5mm wide. Same as what my digital camera uses with a usb at the other end to connect to my computer.

If so it is USB.. USB has 4 wires. 5 volts on the outside two wires, (red and black) and the inside wires are TX (transmit) and RX (Receive). Sounds like Hema does some digital handshaking on TX & RX to stop you from using another power supply. Don't you hate that?

Well the hema has died again.... i should have listened to my own advice and never buy a mk1 of any product or car.....

This time the power supply has broken at the end that goes into the cig socket...
I have read on here that the units with 3 as the 4th last or sumthing in the serial number are on recall for freezing... well mine does that too but dosent have the 3 near the end of the serial no. Im going to try for a replacement but have to wait till the mrs gets home to get the serial number off it for them and i will let you all know how i go....

Has anyone other than shane and myself had these problems ?

Just an update on this... I got the unit back the other day after sending it off to hema. They were great on the phone told me everything they would do, checked it all over inc battery wich wasnt charging, but it was all due to the faulty power cord. The re flashed it with all the latest maps and softwear and included the new 12v power supply. These guys have great aftersales customer service, i highly recomend them.

I've been haveing trouble turning mine on and off, I don't know if it the button not wooing properly or somthing else, I reckon the hema is great when it's working and the aftersales serive is great, BUT I'm just about over the haveing to ring them and then be without the unit while they fix it. It just seems to be one thing after another.
