Grea Mod Guys- took me longer to read through all this than to do it.

On a sidenote though, mine is a 2013 SR5 and leaving 44mm did the trick spot on. Going to go out and buy a cargo net this arvo :)

just did this on my 2013 sr5 as well, managed to fit a first aid kit back there, my snatch straps, my dog seat covers and some other random stuff that's normally lying around the back seat. excellent mod!

Hi,

I have just purchased this compressor

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/12V-150L-MIN-AIR-COMPRESSOR-PORTABLE-EXTRA-HEAVY-DUTY-4x4-Car-Tyres-Bike-/360824016467?pt=Caravan_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5402c98e53

Although there is one post in this thread about fitting the ARB slimline compressor I wonder if anyone out there has fitted a similar item such as this into the space. This is a great mod and even if it does not work the space will be useful for all of the recovery gear.

Did it today on my 13 Doublecab. The Russian version took me an hour befor I gave up, it's just not worth the bother. I ended up cutting the lugs off the end, tweaked the guides to suits with a 4 pound hammer until there was no play. Sweet. Bought an $18 cargo net from supercrap auto which ended up being no good, so I've resorted to using the extra space on the floor for my recovery kit, first aid and tie straps. Worth the effort, although the Russians really did waste my time.

I'd like to see pics or gather info on how others have attached board in that area. What I'm thinking of doing is fixing the board with 4 or 6 screws (but at least as few as possible to reduce holes in the new truck). I'd prefer using existing bolt holes and brackets but there doesn't appear to be any...or perhaps I can use the mounting points for the seats, make up a bracket and then some more at the top of the board and secure that to the rail that runs across the cab to avoid new screw holes that exit to the outside? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I even thought you might get away with say a Perspex mounting board and just use wide Velcro strips to mount it to the interior panel. If the gear being mounted (in my case CTEK 250S Dual and Smartpass) is light this could work. Cheers Noel

did this mod today. took longer to get seat out than modify. took a snap on rattle gun to get 2 of the bolts out that bloody tight! I cut mine at the angle shown on first page.now as for the rattle.mine had been previously done with tape.which had worn away. I got some of that clear vinyl tube. mine in particular came from a length I use for brake bleeding. cut about inch long split down one side put over front of bracket on car & used tape to hold in place. makes the seat a firm fit & no f$@#&% rattle!!!!!

Did this in the weekend, was easier than i thought, and works easier than i thought.

Seats out: (will carpet/dynamat the rear wall soon)

Cutting the hook: (wrapped it all in duck-tape nice and tight - think it stops the rattle when people are sitting on the back seat? Not sure, so taped it up anyway)

Too easy!

Did my 2012 last week...

A few layers of insulation to the rear panel and floor.

The did half the Russian mod as in just down past 90 and then was able to cut exactly in line with where the standard insulation stops...

See pic above

Now to transfer some of the emergent recovery gear from the tray to this accessible space...

WHAT i truly want is some quick release studs etc to replace the 4 screws, holding the rear seat in place. Thus when only 2 of us travelling I can just pop the rear seat out and make plenty of extra clean and secure storage...

Often only have 3 people traveling and would love to be able to fit some suitable Bucket seats in the rear...

Here's a random question for you all..

You reckon it creates enough room for a bodyboard to be mounted?

42" Mason Rose DK board... might have to trial fit it.. permanent booger mounting spot. Would be nice if I could fit a pair of fins next to it..
I'll let you people know..

i was going to do this awesome mod but when i folded my seat i found that the hooks are different, here take a look at those pictures:

as you can see there isn't the hook anymore....can someone confirm that if i cut at 44mm i will have the same results?

thanks in advance

Finally got the photos up. Maxtrax, recovery kit, jackets, first aid kit and other bits and pieces.

Dumb question perhaps, but judging by this it doesn't affect the possibility of having your seat part up. Am I right to think this? So basically once I cut it, I can still put the seat upright?
