Cabin Guard removal for Canopy install

Hi guys,

I’ve just picked up a canopy for my N70 (2009 SR Dual Cab), and I know that I’ll need to remove the cabin guard (the bars behind the rear window) to install it. I’ve only found suggestions to cut it off with an angle grinder, but I’m wondering if that’s the only option? Is it possible to unbolt it somehow?

For example, if the whole tub was removed from the ute, could you unbolt it easily then, or is it welded and angle grinding really is the only way?

Cheers!

If you look down below where the "legs" go into the top of the tub, you'll see the spot weld points. Theoretically you could drill out the spotwelds and weld up the holes and refinish those points, but most people just choose the angle grinder option.

the legs are welded to the top of the tray angle grinder is the easiest way to get them off, its not hard no sparks on the glass cover up.

Had the same dilemma, ended up being easier than expected with the grinder.
