To turn seat belt chime off

Not that I'm against wearing a seat belt but there are times when you don't want it on. And those times you're normaly stressing about being bogged up to the sills! The last thing you need is an annoying beeper so here's how to turn it off without cutting or unplugging anything. It may take a couple of attempts.
1. turn the key to the ON position, foot off the brake
2. cycle the odometer with the trip reset button until the ODO is displayed (not trip A or B )
3. turn the ignition to the LOCK (OFF) position
4. Get your seatbelt in your hand ready to put in
5. turn the key to the ON position. when the dash lights have come on, press and hold the trip reset button and count a slow 12 seconds.
6. while still holding the trip reset button, buckle the driver's side seatbelt.
7. the odometer display should read "b ON" or "b OFF". toggle the beep OFF with the trip reset.
8. the process should be completed when you unbuckle or turn the key off.

I saw your ignition key beeper removal article. Very pleased to see it! Curious to find out if it does disable the airbag. A simple relay would solve it if it does. Still can't see the same article I posted. Nevermind anyway, just trying to share info.

If you do this to turn it off, how do you turn it back on? Just thinking about trade in time or selling time in the future.......

Is there a process similar for the key in ignition beeper removal or is the process still to unplug the white plug under the steering wheel?

Yeah it is easy, I've actually disconnected the plug but I am still concerned about the Air Bag operation. If there was an electronic way to disable the Key in Ignition beeper I was going to re-connect the plug and do it electronically like the process above....
If you can do the seatbelt, I'm betting there is also a way to do the ignition beeper too!

Rich, The Warning buzzer is not part of the seatbelt pretentioner or the Air Bag operation. The wiring diagram confirms this... But I will try and explain it here... if you put your key in the ignition and the door is open, a circuit is made and the buzzer goes off... if you have the car running and the door open the buzzer does not go off... therefore the key inthe ignition is the open switch... the same as pulling the connection. now if there was a connection to the air bags ( and there isn't) there is no different between the connection being off and the engine running or the key breaking the connection by being in the running position. Therefore, for it to not operate the airbags, you would have to be stationery with the key in the ignition on the off position with the door open and the connection removed... ( buzzer not sounding ) and get hit in the ass by a truck doing over 60 Kms per hour... Clear as mud hey... 8-) PM me your Email address and I will try and send you the wiring diagram in a PDF file. Cheers TOMUCH

Worked great on my 2006 sr5 4x4 and many other 05 and 06 models, however.... Just got a spanking new 4x2 workmate V6 where i work, and it wont work, damn it. Did they change something in the new model? Tried a couple of times.

I did it to a couple of late model 07 workmates over here and it worked... but I did have to have several goes... I found it was a long 12 secs... closer to 15... Cheers TOMUCH

Eric, thanks for the method of getting rid of that alarm. It makes backing the boat trailer so much nicer without the noise. It took 3 goes but it was worth it. thanks, peter.:)
