Rear seat noise

Rear seat noise

Postby Spitfia on Thu, 18 Aug 2016 11:21 +0000

Hi all

I have recently done the rear seat mod but unfortunately i am still getting a rubbing/almost squeeking noise when the seat is in the upright position and it is driving me crazy

It mostly happens when i go around corners or over bumps and gets worse when i have something on the seat

If anyone has any ideas how to make this stop i would be very grateful

Thanks

yes, you can do 3 things.

very slightly and carefully adjust the metal loops that are welded to the back to make them fit a bit more snug into the now hookless guides on the seat,

if the plastic covering is damaged a bit like mine was get some thin wall heatshrink and shrink it over the guide that you cut, I also put a little lanolin grease on mine

OR

turn the stereo up.

Ill give that a try before i go start bending stuff...

Is this a common problem? if so it would have to be one of the most annoying design faults i have noticed so far

Did this mod and covered the "hook" on the back of the seat with a piece of garden hose. The problem with that is, when you want to lift the seat (bottom), the back of the seat doesn't have enough travel downward due to the edge of the hose being caught on the "loop". Also tried with heat shrink for the same result.

Had the same annoying noise, wrapped the brackets in electrical tape yesterday and so far no noise. The run out to Broken Hill this week will be the test.

I can confirm that the electrical tape works

I covered the brackets in a heap of electrical tape and no noise... I think the trick is to wrap heaps of tape around bracket so it fills the hook so it don't rub at all
