Better braking without mods?

Hi all,

Has anybody had any luck with achieving better braking without any mods that would need engineering etc?
I am referring mostly to replacement discs, pads, brake system maintenance etc. My braking is enough, but I would definitely not want any LESS.... it really is pushing it.

Keep the rear drums adjusted correctly is the most common problem, unsure if a better booster fits, or you could try some different pads in the front.

Braided brake lines will also improve your peddle feel for not to much investment

More pressure goes to pads instead of expanding the brake lines.

Brake fluid is hydroscopic, so change it every year to minimise occurrence of brake fade if you do lots of towing or heavy braking.

For road only use, I believe drilled discs are favoured as it lets brake friction gases out from between disc and pad during braking. But slotted discs for off-road because mud can get stuck in drilled discs. Can't do much more for drums than mentioned above...

I fitted the dimpled and slotted prado rotors and calipers, braided brake lines and changed the fluid. Adjusted rear drums and if you are not wearing a seat belt when you jam them on you are going through windscreen....... given I was up for front pads and the discs had a horrible low speed grab the $650 I spent on all new parts was by far the best brake upgrade I have done.

As they come out on the TRD Hilux they don't need engineering.

Metal flex pads is a start, but expect to chew rotors out

If that's no good
Dba4000 series slotted rotors (don't get drilled)
Braided brake lines front and rear (most shops install for around $100 each)

Once you go beyond that $770 is what you pay for most engineers to write a report

DBA 4000 T3 and QFM hpx pads. also braided lines

alternatively look at the VSC brakes from a more recent model

Brake fluid flush will help.
New quality pads & rotors will work better than old ones.
