Wing Mirror replacement

Wing Mirror replacement

Postby PB4less on Sat, 04 Jul 2015 11:07 +0000

Am sure there is an answer somewhere in the forums but blowed if I can find it.

Need to replace broken wing mirror glass.

Mirror housing & motors are OK so it's only the mirror itself that needs replacing.

Does the existing mirror glass simply lift and pop out or is there a devious fitting trick (note there seems to be a spring clip & white bracket on back of plate)?

Mind you if I don't look behind me it's ok
Now where did I put that...?

Good opportunity to get flat glass fitted, it's so much better than that stupid factory mirror.
I got mine done by a glass guy when I was living in Newcastle. It's quite easy to manoeuvre the glass in and out of the plastic housing. Mind you, my mirrors are not electric, so you're may be more difficult I dunno.
The only problem is that the glass guy will need an intact glass to use as a template, so you could pop the other side and flip it.
Regards Chris.

I started life with nothing, and I've still got most of it left

Hi
if you get a glazier (Glass guy) they usually charge any where between $25 and $75
best ring around first smaller companies are usually happy to do it,
try wreckers for price as some work out cheaper

Good advice fellas & also great opportunity to get rid of those cars that seem to pop out of the tray :o

Probably use some silicon paper to trace the existing mirror then all I have to remember is to flip it when getting the replacement mirror cut.
Now where did I put that...?
