Go for it mate, mine is a D4D 4wd dual cab, but the first impression I remember is the car like ride... In stock trim it with the auto I was getting 10 litres per 100 on the highway. Wish I could get that now, but if you check my buildup, it has a fair bit of fruit hanging off it now....

It's got very low km's and is pretty stock. They are good points. It depends on what you want to do with it. Think about what you would modify if anything and how much it would cost. I can see 10-15k easy. I wouldn't pay over 40. It's old now. There have been upgrades. Good luck

Yeah but as its a Toyota and a diesel age isnt the main contributing factor its the km's, plus the price is what you start from and head south.......... also you have to take into account it may not have really been used off road might be worth looking at as it looks very straight and clean, check the bash plate chassis rails for mud sand etc......

I have not followed car values, but I guess from a dealer that is what you expect. In Feb 2007, I paid $44.5k for a new SR auto with same spec. I think back then I could have bought an SR5 for about $50-52k so it is not all that good a value. Certainly at those km, it is worth getting serious about. Just look beyond the bash plates and check out any other evidence of a hard time. My factory bash plates are very shiny and still sitting in the shed.

mate, i bought my (now written off) 07 SR5 duel cab, with more gear on it with about 50000k on it for 37k

WAY to expensive in my opinion....... Its a joke how much some dreamers ask for there car, particularly toyotas, no doubt they hold there value well because they are popular, but sometimes it gets a bit ridiculous....

what about these:

Agree it's a little bit over the odds. I picked up my 06 sr5 in march which was stock standard apart from some prado knock off rims. 50,000km, petrol in very good Nick underneath for 37.5k I would have been happy to pay a little bit extra for a diesel on top of that (personal preference thing)

i wouldnt be paying over 40K,
if your willing to pay that much on second hand, you might as well pay that little bit extra and go brand new!

Ha! Experts. Yep. Came to the right place.
I don't know who buys cars like this from dealers but someone must or they wouldn't price them this way.
Seems very expensive to me.
I'd check out the private ones, need to be a bit patient, but there are good ones out there, plenty of dodgy ones too. If any seem too good to be true, they probably are.
The dealer will give you a certain amount of security, but if you are carefull privately you'll be ok.
Keep searching and you will get what you want at the price you want and you'll be happy.
Personally I'm not into that "I've been rubber gloved" dealer feeling.
Good luck with the hunt.

Beachlux,
You wrote "The dealer will give you a certain amount of security,". Big call trusting a used car sales man. Depends a lot on what state you are in as to how much "SECURITY" you will have buying from a stealer. Qld = Nil.

Also good to see the resale price of hilux is still up thier for what you pay for them to start with. Look what Butry got for his 4/07 D/C $42.5k or something with a bit of fruit. Not a bad resale for a 3 year old vehicle.

Regards,
Cam

I'm with the guys above mate. We just bought a 2005 SR5 extra cab from a dealer with 70K on clock and extended factory warranty to 150K or 3yrs for under $33k. It doesn't have any extras (other than mirror tint). but its certainly a better deal than that extra cab.
