Temp switch seems stuck??

Temp switch seems stuck??

Postby TheKeywood on Fri, 22 Aug 2014 9:49 +0000

My temp switch on 2006 Hilux wont turn all the way to hot or cold - seems stuck?? Is this common and can it be easily fixed? I know it isnt the switch itself as i have replaced it. The problem is the bottom cog that comes off that switch.
Summer is coming - please help....
Jason.

yeah....hahaha...i wasnt sure going digital would fix my issue....

if i can work out how to get the bottom cog to fully turn i'll be ok.

just gunna have to take the whole dash off and get right in there. hopefully its just a 20 cent piece in there or something..

I've not looked at one. It's not a ceased cable is it? Can you disconnect it and try?

When I first bought my hilux (2nd hand obviously) it had so much dirt and dust behind the dash that the air con controls were nearly completely jammed.

I had to remove the entire dash, scrub everything clean and replace the control cables.
The cable that run from the controls to the heater box are 1 piece - you can replace each end individually but it's a real PITA. I used parts from a wrecker.

thanks for the help people.
I replaced the whole controller and cleaned all the lower cogs, but was still jammed. I used a big screwdriver and forced the air con vent to open. I'd rather have cold than hot for summer, so hopefully no-one gets in it and changes it back to hot or i'll have to do it all over again.
