ive pulled my map sensor off and i was just curious on how to clean it? do i just spray the cleaner in it or use air pressure to clean it?

Spray the cleaner in. You could use compressed air but might damage the felt filter.

what exactly is the cleaner called to use on the map filter ? will WD-40 work?

Wouldn't use WD40, degreaser until no more black crap comes out then hit it with a few squirts of brake disc or MAF sensor cleaner.

Hey I removed mine to clean it I blew in it and black oil came out is that normal I didn't no if that's meant to be in there so I put it back and didn't clean it

Also I bought contact cleaner will that work

Yes, all is normal. The reason why there is oil in the filter is due to the oil vapors from the crankcase being re-circulated into the intake.

Fit a oil catch can and you won't have to clean the filter ever again.

Yes but I'd use degreaser first then a cleaner that quickly evaporates to get rid of any oily residue.

Turbocharged engines and very high compression aspirated engines suffer from 'blow by'. Blow by is caused when compressed air escapes through the piston rings, this then causes positive pressure within the lubricant system (Engine oil) of the engine. The easiest way to avoid over pressurizing the engine oil is to fit a one way filter where the oil filler cap is as seen on old muscle cars, now having oil vapours escape to the atmosphere has the enviromentalists chucking a tantrum so engineers have designed for those oil vapours to recirculate back into the air intake then burn't off during combustion.

There are drawbacks to this, for a daily driven family run about its fine but if you want more performance or have a more reliable vehicle it is best to fit a device that 'catches' the oil, filters the air and recirculate it back into the intake. Other drawbacks are decreasing cetane (Diesel) and octane (Petrol) levels and clogging intake with dirty oil that plays havoc on injectors, valves etc.

The MAP sensor runs off vaccum (air pressure) coming from the intake, map filter is there to filter the oil vapours that prevents giving the MAP sensor a false reading, fit a oil catch can then you'll never have to clean the MAP filter again.

I replace and clean my filters every 20,000km the only exception is the oil filter which I replace every 5,000km.

what is the part no for map sensor filter

Cleaned out the MAF sensor and this filter this morning, only a little bit of crud from the filter came out. performance wise a slight improvement but not as dramatic as others have had
i'm at 45000K, I guess mine is not to bad.

Just did mine, a bit of black crud came out, see how it goes now

Just did the maf and map sensor. A bit of black came out of the map so will be interesting to see if i get better fuel consumption as now i am getting under 500 km per tank.
