Great thread guys!
2013 SR5, where at 225,000km, located an oil leak around the top/rear of valve cover and thought it to be the rear injector seal. In the light of day, identified it to be a hairline crack in top rear the valve cover. Bit the bullet and ordered a new one. Whilst valve cover and other components were off, noted build-up of soot and oil residue in the Inlet Manifold and EGR. Both sent out for clean and subsequent refit.
On return to usual driving found the vehicle to be a little hesitant on initial take-off but would then come good. Around 5000km's later, vehicle throws engine warning light in conjunction with VSC and Traction Control lights illuminating. Nil limp mode and it maintained to drive normally with only the previous hesitation on start and take-off.
Had fault diagnosed as a P0400 code and an indication it could be a number of issues mostly relating to EGR failure. Now looking to remedy with an EGR delete. Cleared the error code (x2) and faulted with same warning lights at 85km down the road on two occasions. I would have thought if the EGR had failed it would've shown the warning lights somewhat immediately.
On reading this thread I've have now cleaned both MAF and MAP as per Roos directions. Cheers mate.
Is there any other filters or sensors likely to need a little clean and spruce-up as I noted what appears to be a plastic valve/filter in-line with fitted hoses leading to the top of the EGR, just below the position indicator sensor?
This is the first issue I've experienced with this vehicle.
Curious if any other folks have had similar issues.
Here's hoping to no more P0400 codes.
If it continues to fault, I may just run with an EGR delete.
Regards, JLC
