But we all forget or don't know about the map sensor filter

Cleaning this sensor speeds up the boost response time.

Always check for stress cracks as well

And this is what is inside one!
Is has a felt screen inside.

This one was cracked.



Makes a huge difference

Do you just wash it through with brake cleaner or the likes? and are they expensive to replace if cracked? Thanks for the explanation!

Yea any cleaner that will brake down oil will be fine. And trust me. When you clean it you will understand. As I said it has a felt screen in it and it does block up. They are about 30 bucks I think from memory

Probably a stupid question but here goes.
I have a March 05 hilux and that filter looks a little different on mine. I ordered a new one today as i am assuming mine has never been touched.
Will i get the same boost response as the newer engine with a clean filter?
Mine seems slow to wind up.

hmm.. i just pulled mine off and sprayed a tonne of carby cleaner through it, nothing really came out.. so i blew it out with air, and sprayed brake cleaner through it.. again, nothing.. blew it all out with air again and re-installed.. Are we expecting to see a lot of stuff come out?

Will have another look for it, Im asuming its were the hose has been pulled on the white thing in the blury pic.

It took a couple of looks, all I could see at first was engine bits and dirty fingers

Cuzo, at Newvember I thought you fixed your fuel consumption issue and where now getting near 700km per tank

plus 4 jerey cans
driving around hills instead of over
not going over 80km/hr
turning off the AC
tailgating

Boxhead is this filter on the V6 or is it a diesel thing?
There are a couple of AISIN vacum switching valves to the back of engine bay that look similar
part no's are 90910 - 12262 and 25860 - 31010

On the diesel

i just had another question as to the location of that filter.. as apparently the picture isnt clear enough..

If you remove the black shroud from the top of the intercooler, then look at the top right corner (when standing in front of your vehicle) the little white filter is clipped in the top right corner next to the intercooler and has the two vacuum hoses into it (dont mix them up when re-attaching!) and make sure you put the filter back in the same way / orientation that it came out..
